Completely agree with the price regulating point.
Even if they don't do it directly, Rolex has enough leverage that an AD will not want to jeopardize their Rolex relationship to make some extra cash on an used piece. If not written down it will be unspoken. Either way there will be a pricing control mechanism for these certified pieces.
I think they will be giving their retailers something to sell, since they are not keeping up with demand. Plus it is a nice stepping stone offering for an AD to give to a somewhat new customer, vs. a new one to a legacy one.
The CPO model has worked extremely well for auto dealers. Depending on how they market it, they have a great angle of guaranteeing an authentic used Rolex. I have seen some incredible fakes and heard horror stories, so I have only bought Rolexes from an AD or a reputable jeweler who has authenticated it.
This is a great move by Rolex in my opinion and it will be successful for Rolex, it's ADs and will also give them a little more ability to rein in the grey market.
However, the hard to get pieces will still give the grey enough to spend their time on.
