Bulova lunar pilot review, Apollo 15s gift to the world

If I'm honest I had no real plans for buying this watch. I had admired it for some time, but didn't see it as something I needed to own.

That changed when I saw it listed in John Lewis for £249! An absolute steal of a price and once bought it didn't leave my wrist for a good few days.

Thus, I now have a good idea of what I think of the watch. And I think it's one of the best watches bulova makes. Moreover, at it's retail price point it's an unbelievable chronograph with a rich history to boot.

Given it's larger dimensions I was worried it wouldn't fit my wrist, although I don't care and would wear it anyway:). Im sure the larger size will put some of you guys off but on my 7 inch wrist it feels great. Whilst talking about feel, this watch is very comfortable, I find I'm able to forget wearing it. Something that I rarely experience on a metal bracelet.

Solid links are obviously present here and the butterfly clasp actions very well. Case finishing is good, I personally would've liked to have seen some more detail given how much they sell for but I understand it's a reissue of a vintage piece so that wouldn't of been priority. A real niggle I have about the strap is no micro adjustment! I'm fortunate that it fit me near perfectly but the lack of this feature is definitely something that should be present at this price point.

The movement is the party piece of this watch, that 262khz quartz is buttery smooth and having used it to time a few things works outstandingly well. It's also helped by how legible that dial and handset is.

The black on the dial is lovely and deep, a fitting colour for a watch that made it's name in space itself. Although, some extra detail or raised pieces would've been welcome as it can come across a touch plain. And the raised sapphire crystal is a welcome addition to an already well kitted watch.

To conclude (my first proper review so please give me feedback) I think this watch should be in everyone's collection. It's a great chronograph with a good history and a timeless design. It does also help to get it at a ludicrous price;)

I also have that watch and I love it. I was able to get a great deal on mine too although your deal was better. It’s one of the keepers in my collection.

The following comment is not a jab at this reviewer nor his very detailed and excellent review. It’s just a thought that has been in the back of my mind for a very long time after watching an untold number of YouTube watch reviews. I hope it does not offend anyone. I tried to PG it down…

Unless the packaging of a watch comes with a b#@w j&b, I give zero f#&s about a box as long as the item inside is safely and securely stored. I am much more interested in the watch itself rather than an extraneous item i will give no thought to ever again unless I decide to sell or give away the watch. A pig wearing lipstick is still a pig and a Porsche delivered in plastic wrap is still a Porsche.

Good review, no question. I have this watch, but mine is all polished, is no-date, and came on a funky black Nato that immediately replaced with an antique brown leather one. I bought it from Amazon back when the MoonSwatch came out. The Bulova is a far far better watch than that plastic POS.

Great review! We are an authorized Seiko, Citizen Bulova dealer and this watch is amazing in person. For the price, an absolute banger!

This is definitely one that is on my someday maybe wish list. Thanks for that awesome review! If I run across it at an amazing price I would snatch it right up. 😀
