Let's go racing! 1974 Timex M25.

Oh dear - a beaten, non-running Timex off Ebay, with the dreaded M24/25 movement and half the lume gone? At least it was only €20.50, so what could go wrong - -

- - - nothing went wrong! After giving the movement a good soak in lighter fluid (as described in the Official Timex Service Manual!), it started ticking again. A few drops of oil in the right places, a quick re-lume of the hands, some polish and presto! One sexy 70s vroom-vroom racing ticker resurrected! Just the thing to wear in my rickety two-seater, or to a ska concert :)

It runs a bit fast - well it is a racing watch, duh - so I'm gonna regulate it over the next days, and make a speedy rallye / bund strap. Tinkering is fun :)

I wish that I could love old Timex but once I see one of those movements I shriek and jump up on a chair.

Might I suggest aversion therapy, like they do with mice? Try to spend a few minutes in a room with one in a cage. Then, next week, put one on. The week after, try to wear for an hour, and so on. Soon you'll find they're actually kinda cute ;)
