Buy a Watch, Save the World (The Edge168n homage) Part 3 of 3

Very delayed but the third of three charitable auctions starts now.

As a reminder, this is the AliExpress homage of the Artist-Formerly-Known-As-Omeganut's (@HotWatchChick69) wildly successful charity auctions; I have much less brand recognition but just as much value to offer.

Thank you to all who participated in the first and second auctions and to @JackieMoon_LMS and @rowiphi for the winning bids.  Together we raised $1,878 for two wonderful and worthwhile organizations here in the Bay Area: the SF-Marin Foodbank and the Alameda County Food Bank.

https://www.sfmfoodbank.org/

https://www.accfb.org/

I have been a decade long supporter of both organizations because there are very few nonprofits that have the impact on my community that AC and SF/Marin Food Bank do and even fewer that do at the same efficiency.

Respectively, 93 and 95 percent of all gifts go directly to food grant programs, rather than into administration or further fundraising.  As much as any nonprofit can be, they are efficient, well run machines that are devoted to ending hunger in the Bay Area. (Source: Charity Navigator).

While I don't have a fancy corporate match, I will personally double match the final bid of all of the three auctions with receipts to be posted at the end of the auction.  One bid, 3x the result split between two worthy organizations.  Can't beat it.

Everyone, auction three of three starts now and get those bids ready because you're going to now take advantage of my broken collector's brain.

Why I love this watch

Heritage, performance, toughness, elegance.

In 2019, Matthieu Tordeur endured 52 days of negative 50 degree Celsius temperatures when he journeyed alone from the Antarctic Coast to the South Pole, becoming the first French citizen and youngest person ever to make the journey.  Strapped to his wrist was a Charlie Paris Concordia of this very make and model.

The Concordia was designed with the extreme Antarctic environment in mind.  It has been tested to operate at negative 70 degrees Celsius and at 300M of water resistance, despite the case measuring under 12.5mm in height.

It is perfectly sized for collectors of all wrist diameters, at 40mm diameter and 47mm lug to lug.

The bezel is thin and very clicky with no backplay.

It's also genuinely beautiful, from the smoky black dial (red text anyone) to the applied indices and aggressively angled hands.

The caseback is not just phony marketing either.  This watch actually made it to the South Pole.  Attention must be paid.

It is a rare blend of toughness and grace that should your adorn your wrist!

Why I am selling this watch

I have a confession to make.  I have talked about this here before and I am deeply grateful that WatchCrunch has been a safe space for me to talk about my shortcomings as a collector and human being.

What I am about to say may shock you and I think it best if you don't repeat this to any children (or adults with more delicate sensibilities) nearby.

I....I don't like dive-style watches...

For whatever reason, rotating bezels don't really resonate with me.  I've owned perhaps a dozen dive watches over the years and I frankly haven't held onto any more than a couple months.  This is the closest I've ever seen to a perfect dive watch for me and I still can't get over it.

All you need to know is that this is an @Edge168n problem with a truly excellent watch.

I told you I was broken in the head.

Why you should buy this watch

Do you like dress divers?

Are you the gentleman/lady/person explorer type that enjoys a measure of class and taste with their South Pole expedition?

Then this watch is for you!  The original retails at ~650 USD new.  It can be had here for a song.  Take the savings and buy a sailcloth from Artem to liven up the look even more.

Additionally, I am including a Charlie Paris branded tan leather strap (pictured in the photo roll) for all of your desk diver needs. Be a rebel, wear your diver on leather!

And don't  just take my word for it.  From community member @MWC2020

What you get:

The watch comes with original packaging, box, papers, warranty (runs out in Nov 2023), manual and extra leather strap along with the warm and fuzzy feeling that you’ve made a difference in the world.

Auction ends at 12PM Pacific Standard time (that’s 12:00 for our UK/European friends) on October 31st.  Bidding starts at $150, which includes shipping to anywhere in the world (except for...you know North Korea or Russia or other places Americans can't really ship to).

The MWC himself!  I'm honored!

It's a great watch by one of the few microbrands that actually decided to put its tool watch through a real world test in the great tradition of the Speedmaster and Explorer 1.  It never  got the attention it deserved in my opinion.

Let me start this and go for a $200,- bid. I really like the story and design AND like dive watches unlike other people who clearly need help...

First bid!  Thank you!

I love the fact that a man who lives in the Canary Islands is the first bidder for a watch designed for Antarctica.

Wow! Beautiful watch, even if it is a diver 😉. I can‘t promise as an exotic local as the Canary Islands, but I do live ‘in the land of Pleasant Living’ and promise to give her a dunk in the Chesapeake Bay!
so let’s go to $350.

The new highest bidder!

I lived in Dupont Circle in DC for five years and recall not a few pleasant weekends on Kent Island.  It will be like it's returning home!

Thank you!

I’m on the South River, just across the Bay from Kent Island, so home indeed!

I know, I know.

Look, Sisyphus had to push the rock up that hill and Churchill drank too much.

I shall live the rest of my life in the shadow of being a watch collector that just doesn't like divers.
