Why omega charges 50% of the watches price for a simple gold bezel ?

Can anyone tell me why omega charges so much for gold or they think we don't know the price of gold?

RRP of a aquaterra is 5.2k and with a gold bezel 7.5k.

Don’t they also use their own process for forging/smelting the gold? Sedna?

Yes u r correct but if you check breitling for example, they don't charge as much , neither does zenith or tudor. They killing all the joy for us . I would rather go with a kudoke but he takes a year to make a watch (((

Btw how do you like your seamaster ?

I think thats why though isn’t it. You aren’t just paying for the gold, you’re paying for the specific alloying and process. I mean, at this end of watches you’re paying for a bunch of brand names and trademarks — the maker, the movement, the alloys, the ceramics, the processes, etc. Yeah, it adds to the price of the watch, but that’s already in luxury territory, and that’s when the price goes up —more luxuries. Not just gold, but Marks and Spencer gold (but in this case, Omega Sedna gold.)

Even steel is out of my price range xD

Haha I actually am interested in the Bond limited (7007 pieces ) . It's on the website but not available apparently.

Maybe we should stick to steel as there is no value in buying gold unless you getting second hand or close out deals. ( recently I missed out on a all gold el primero for 10k) .

I want to buy a new watch that's why having a hard time getting smth special.

Aquaterra is nice but the lack of distinctive bezel makes it mehh. Seamaster is very good , now thinking between blue, green or black .

But Ideally i want to support  german and japanese businesses or new Swiss watch guys that have a lot of prove . Which means they will try and work hard. Look at Parmigiani or Bulgari.  I really want an octofinissimo ( if only it had a date window) , glashutte original panomaticlunar in green or navy) or a Grand seiko when they will finally stick a spring drive or high beat to a SBJV245J case and add a rubber strap. They sitting on such a gem , yet not developing it at all.

I just think they getting away with it because there is no alternative.  If tomorrow nomos or GS comes up with great looking sports watches, it will be harder for the Swiss to justify these crazy ticky tacky moves.  Starting with the question,  what is"Swiss made"? - does it mean everything is made in Switzerland or half in China?  I would trust GO or GS more when it comes to craftsmanship , vertical manufacturing or hand made  rather then Swiss....

I wear Chinese made, Japanese movement watches that look pretty decent. (Having had the bezel off of my automatic diver, I know where at least one corner is cut to keep the price low) If I wanted (and could afford) some funky antimagnetic Swiss watch, that would be a choice I could make.

Basically, there is an alternative. If you want an Omega, or Rolex, or what have you, you get them from those companies. If you don’t, or more pertinently don’t think they are worth the price (which might be the case) then just spend elsewhere.

One day, after a lottery win or something, I might buy an Omega. I am not going to be angry they aren’t in my range, because… that’s just how that works. I am a little annoyed at the moon swatch though. That was/is just silly.

Because they don't price to cover the cost but to meet a certain demand. These watches are luxury products, and the cost of the materials used is not all that relevant in a manufacturers pricing strategy.

If people will buy it at an elevate price, a manufacturer would be foolish not to offer it, especially as an aspirational product.

·

Because luxury products are not priced at cost+.

·

Actually, the same could be said for Rolex and other luxury brands. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is Precious Metal pieces are not priced based on their PM market prices.

·

Gentlemen of course I understand it but RM can do that because that's their business model.

Omega made good watches at a good price for ppl to wear. It is a luxury yes and the prices still were high but not silly . Now it's going silly territory.  That's all that i am not happy about
