Citizen NB 1060 one week on the wrist

So I got he Citizen NB1060 with the Silver Leaf Blue Urushi Lacquer dial last week and I've been more than satisfied with it so far (with one major caveat).

Let's get the obvious out of the way; The dial is magnificent. The rich, dappled aquamarine blue has amazing depth and plays with the light in endlessly interesting ways. It's a real stunner.

The applied indices, logo and date window are quite good. Maybe not quite up to the level of my similarly priced Tissot Gentleman's appliques and I do wish they had found a way to have a color matched date (I can see how that would be difficult), but overall more than acceptable.

All that I expected. It's why I bought the thing after all. What I didn't expect was how much I would like the case.

Not your usual sub-1K slab-sided chunk here. Wide chamfers make it reminiscent of my Citizen Leopard's tumblehome 70s design but with a modern polished bezel on top that sports it up a bit.

The size is perfect for me. 38.2mm diameter with a 46.5mm lug to lug and a 12mm depth. I like my pieces smallish, so on my 7.6" wrists this wears like a dream.

The rest of the specs are more than adequate; 100m water resistance, sapphire glass, Miyota 9011 movement.

But the one glaring flaw is the 19mm strap that came with it. That's why all of these pictures are on an Ali-Express Jubilee. I hate deployant clasps in general and this one wore well up on the side of my wrist so it had to go. I have a red leather strap that looks great on it but given how hard it was to get this bracelet on I'm loathe to switch back to it 🙄

But, all in all, I'm over the moon about this watch. I think it's an absolute steal at retail (given the strong exchange rate for us in America especially) so well worth importing from Japan. I'm flabbergasted that Citizen doesn't sell this in america. I think it competes very, very favorably with the Seiko Presages I've tried on and the Tissot I own too. Three thumbs up from this mutant!
