The story of my watch collecting. Part 5.

Hi everyone!

Let's go further!

In the previous part, I ended up cooling down to chasing watches after I got my grail - Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 1861. For me, this is a museum exhibit, so I practically don't wear them. My old Speedmaster Date 40mm turned out to have cons. They had poor readability and were very thick and heavy for everyday use. In addition, my work became completely remote and there was no need for mechanics anymore. I decided to buy a watch that is as practical and accurate as possible, in the style of minimalism. So that I can never get tired of them. I was looking for a watch that would be a cure for the watch hobby. Not too expensive, but not budget either. A watch with which you will never have to think about maintenance.

There is one watch company that is gaining momentum every year and is gradually winning the hearts of all watch enthusiasts in the world. They have an incredible story. They are independent. In terms of finish, quality and mechanisms, they are ahead of the Rolex. They are made by hand and they are cheaper than a Rolex. This is a win-win option! Some probably guessed that we are talking about the Grand Seiko.

As a result, I exchanged my old Speedmaster Date for a Grand Seiko SBGX261 with a 9F caliber. This is the coolest quartz movement in the world. Don't even try to convince me that the manufacturer of calculators is a competitor to them. This is a completely different level.

Why SBGX261?
- the world's best quartz movement 9F,
- size 37mm,
- light weight,
- no complications other than the date,
- maintenance once in 50 years,
- water resistant of 100 meters,
- access to the GS9 private club,
- minimalism style,
- price 2000$.

This watch embodies the concept of comfort. What a pleasure it is to look at watch and know exactly what time it is. They are ideal for everyday use, for work, for festive events under a suit and thanks to the WR of 100 meters, you can even swim in them during your vacation. When I put them on my wrist for the first time, I felt as if they had been with me all my life. We merged with them into one. It's just unbelievable.

I really didn't want any other watches for a long time. I unsubscribed from all channels, forums and other things. I even sold my very first watch - Orient Mako 2, which started my journey. It didn't make sense to buy any other watches anymore.

I solemnly announced to my wife that the watch hobby is over! I've never been so wrong before...but more on that in the next part.

Thank you all very much! See you soon!

This one looks very nice! I don't think there will be a part 6 to this story, because what could possibly go wrong? Thinks back to part 2: "Two months after buying Alpina, I realized... I hate quartz!" 😭

This is priceless DinoZaur, we've all been there or thereabouts! Looking forward to the next instalment and resisting the temptation to look at your WRUW.

Thank you bro for your interest! While I am writing all these parts, I myself am surprised how many times I have changed my opinion on certain things! Crazy hobby
