When and why do you change watches during the day?

A survey was on here showing how many of us swap out our watch during any given day, and I just found myself taking off my nicer watch so I could get some dishes hand washed, even though said watch is a quality diver I can’t have day old yogurt on my leather band! Do you have tasks or any other reason you swap one for another? Do you keep a Cartier on your wrist until it’s time to trim the hedges? Do you wear a solid Submariner through thick and thin, keeping on your wrist while you change motor oil only to give it a quick wash afterwards? Do you baby one watch while beating on your G Shock with a meat tenderizer? Does your profession have you wearing a certain watch or style at work that you take off as soon as your done to replace it with another?

Usually I wear a watch with a strap for work since I’m at a desk. Then if I go out anywhere I’ll switch to a watch with a bracelet. So about 2-3 watches a day for me.

I will generally wear a watch to work, and then switch once I’m home. It’s not a “nice watch vs beater watch” situation, I just like to make sure my mechanicals stay wound and running for the most part.  Regardless of what is on my wrist, I tend to baby it. We work hard for our money (most of us do I’m sure 😂), so I usually keep all of my watches in like-new condition for as long as possible. Once I get some nice scratches in them, then maybe I won’t worry so much, but so far I’ve been really good with everything, and I wear them almost everyday, so I am happy so far.  I know scratches are a part of life as a watch wearer, I’m just not ready to accept that reality 😂. It may sound crazy to some, but the riskiest thing I do with my watches is maybe eat a messy dinner, any other situation and that watch comes off my wrist, if possible.

Nearly all the time, I'm a put it on once and it's there until I go to bed.

Choice of the day and that's it.  Besides, all mine are leather straps.  I maybe wrong, but I figure more & tear from taking off & putting on.

·

I change up my watches 3 to 5 maybe 6 times a day just because I want too LOL!!!

Depends for me. If I'm working out of the house, I may venture up to the bedroom and eye one that I haven't messed with in a few days and just swap it out. If I'm out of the house, it's whatever I put on in the am. The only one I try to keep going is the GMT because it's such a pain to reset.

Choosing a watch is much like choosing an album, show to watch, or restaurant. Whatever suits the need or mood of the moment.

You sound like me in regards to protecting your watches, I hate scratches.  Can change a few times a day depending on what I'm doing.
