I am really happy with what came in the mail today; my new Vaer C3 Korean Field solar watch. I have been interested in this watch for some time, but they were sold out. I finally got the notice that they were re-stocked and ordered one. Very classic look to the dial.
I threw it on a Barton canvas strap. The 20mm lug width is one small niggle; they really should be 18mm on a 36mm watch. It looks like the Orient Mako II does with its 40mm diameter and 22mm lugs, just a bit off in proportion. Despite this, I think it looks great on my 7.5" wrist. It has great lume as well.
It also has an engraved case back commemorating the Korean War.
Overall, a great looking field watch with domed sapphire crystal treated with AR, 100M WR, and a screw-down crown.
I'm wearing my normal-ass "Heritage" or whatever C3 today. I wish I had full numerics and I totally agree about the band width. It's pretty obvious they wanted interchangeability across their whole line. Some white printing on the dial makes that white second hand fit in better.
That looks interesting, I'm thinking unusual not to have SOLAR or Eco drive plastered on the dial, pretty cool 👍

Yes, it is unusual not to have solar on the dial. It is only on the case back for some reason. Not sure why, as the WR is on the dial...😅
Excellent field watch, enjoy
Great looking field watch and the Korean War reference is interesting. That war was and remains a neglected part of history.

Yeah, outside of MASH reruns, most people seem unaware of the Korean War. WWII, the Vietnam War, and even WWI all receive far more attention.
It's a nice little watch. if only they made one with a coin-edged bezel, I would have bought one right away.

have you seen the new Waltham A-17 from Watchangels ? Looks pretty nice IMO.

Have you looked at the Bulova A-11? 37mm with the coin edge bezel. I am considering adding that one as well.

I haven't. I will have to look at that one.

I'm thinking about it, but I would prefered it if it had a black dial. And the version with the black dial doesn't have a coin-edged bezel... 😢

Yeah, it is also larger, at 40mm. I have a black dial Hack.
I took a look at the Waltham A-17. That one looks good, too. I may have to add it to my wish list. I am really hoping Vaer does another release of their A12 Dirty Dozen. I was sorry to have missed that one. Vario also just released their 1945 D12, an update on the Dirty Dozen. I am also thinking about getting one of those.
Vario D12 is also a really good looking watch... that I won't buy because of the 4'o clock crown position... I know I'm a bit boring, we need more variety, hence why I like their variants, but I love the traditionnal look, specially on military/flieger watches.
