Weekly photo theme: Vintage!

It's that time of the week for everyone to show off their mad photography skills!

This week's theme is any interpretation of 'vintage' you wish. I'm kicking you off with a watch from the 90's and a book from 2011, because that's the best I got!

No props so I reuse an old illustration. Omega Suverän from -44 on a map showing the frontiers in Europe during WWII.

Does 2022 count as vintage?

1980's vintage enough?

What a beautiful Omega. I often coo over the vintage Omegas that pop up on eBay for what seem like a bargain, but without knowing who are the reputable sellers I've never felt brave enough to snag one yet.

At least stick on some filters and make it look a bit steampunk!

You get triple points for using a Seiko 5. 👌

Thank You - glad you liked it.

It’s a Graf Zeppelin ref LZ129 (I photoshopped out the brand/model - ‘Zeppelin’ didn’t fit in with the nautical/marine chronometer aesthetic)

You and I have to agree on something my dear and Seiko 5's are the one thing we do 🙏

Got a good one for this theme...

Here's my 6139 JDM SpeedTimer from July '70 with a case of Coca Cola (with unopened bottles!) from the '30s that I found at an antique market! I know it's from the '30s because of the style (embossed glass logo vs printed) and the patent number stamp used 🤓👍🏼

Great shot!

Here’s my birth year #rolex 16750

I have to know.... Have you opened and drunk one??

It's flat and before you ask, they stopped using actual cocaine in the early 1900s 😂

A watch from the 90s is vintage now??? How are you liking the chronoflex, btw? Any issues setting the date? I ask because I'm also considering one for myself...🙂

·

My vintage Benrus WristAlarm (not sure of date, but probably from 1960s) along with an old Motor Trend magazine from July 1956 featuring a review of the Mercedes 300-SL, one of my favorite cars of all time.

Awesome photo.

Thanks - very nice of you to say so.

I entered it into competition at my Camera Club a few years ago. To make it a bit more ‘authentic’, I had a print made on ‘rag paper’, brushed the whole thing in coffee water and tore the edges. It didn’t win unfortunately but was a lot of fun to do

·

Wow, you went the extra mile for that picture! Extra points for dedication 👏

The city that I am writing from wouldn't be founded for another 79 years (Charles II).

·

I have watched every episode of Time Team (yes, every episode of every season). I am well aware of Britons' abilities stacking stones. Over here we have mounds and middens. Boring stuff.

My 1952 Rolex 18K Oyster Perpetual Ref. 6085 with Red "OFFICIALLY"

My grandfather was working as a floor manager at an off-strip casino in Las Vegas that catered to people of color in the late 1950's as they were not allowed entrance to casino's on the main strip. That's him in the picture.

This watch was given to him as a gift of appreciation from a gambler who lost all of his money and my grandfather was able to secure him a room overnight in the hotel, a few meals and some money to get him on a bus out of town.

This watch was then passed to my father then to me about two years ago. It will be passed down to my daughter as some point.

Wow, that has to be one of the prettiest Rolex's I've seen and what an amazing story! Thank you for sharing 🙏
