We are not our watches
I've seen it a few times on WC recently (though does happen everywhere and about anything) where someone will voice a watch related opinion, someone else will volunteer a counter opinion and then it will suddenly all kick off!
Can we just agree on a few things:
You are not your watch. Other people may have a deep dislike for your watch, but that's ok! Because you are not your watch and them disliking it does not mean you are a bad person. It's just an opinion.
People may disagree completely with your watch opinions. But that's ok! They are not questioning your moral code, ethical principles or life values just by saying they like Rolex/IWC/Invicta when you don't. It's just an opinion.
I understand that part of the reason each of us chooses the watches we do is about what we want to present of ourselves to the outside world. So if someone doesn't like our choices it can feel like a blow to the ego.
But seriously.
It's just watches people.
If I got concerned every time I wore a watch the 'watch community' didn't like, I'd just spend my days crying in a cupboard... (my taste in watches can be very dubious at times)... but it's ok, because people not liking my watches doesn't mean I'm a terrible person (there are other reasons for that).
In addition... if we give or ask for an opinion, we need to be prepared for others to give a counter opinion that we may not like... But understand that friendly debate is what keeps a community interesting!
We are a smart, spirited, feisty bunch, not just a group of 'yes (wo)men', and lively conversation which avoids descending into name-calling is a fun part of being here.
I think what I'm basically saying is...
I'm off to find mulled wine.

Asked why someone thought $9k was too much for an IWC Big Pilot. Apparently that makes me a privileged a hole who thinks he’s always right because he’s had everything handed to him. I mean, I’m more annoyed that I’ve been found out... I was soo careful to avoid detection, posting about £8 eBay finds and 90s Tags, but it’s true… I am the ghost of Hans Wilsdorf haunting an Amazon Fire stick. Sorry you all can’t get on the Rolex waiting lists, but I’ve gone and haunted the wrong piece of technology to have any influence on my progeny.
