Orion Calamity Void

I saw this notice in the Orion newsletter. I’ve been tracking this model for years because I wasn’t ready to buy when it was first introduced. All these years later and there is one available, assembled from spare parts. I had to order it. I don’t know if this model will ever be released again.

The dimensions are great. It’s very thin for a 200m diver. It’s got a solid movement. I wasn’t going to buy any more watches this year but I couldn’t pass this by. I am weak.

The Orion Calamity arrived yesterday. I’m on day two wearing it. It’s fantastic.

I’ve been trying to get a good photo of what I actually see in person to show the dark, inky blackness of the dial. It’s been tough because I think the reflections the camera picks up are reflecting from the dial itself, not the crystal.

The crown action to wind and set it is buttery smooth. It’s a great size and shape. It’s very slim and comfortable for a 200m diver.

I’ll invent a niggle just for kicks. I wish the clasp were thinner. It’s a very solid clasp on a well finished bracelet, just a little thick. Other than that, it’s a collection killer. This might be the first time in years that I have a “daily” watch.

It also came with what seems to be a high quality NATO but that’s a no for me Dawg.

Just found this post. I have an OG calamity and it is singularly the best watch I own. Mine has a matter black bezel. I agree with u on the clasp...I think nick kinda shoehorned in the unnecessary diver extention. Otherwise full marks after 5 years of regular wear

I wish I had jumped on the original release. That’s five years I missed with this one.

Back in the day, Nick replied to my message in a microbrand group saying this model would be available as a regular part of their catalog. Then it wasn’t. LOL

I feel like I got lucky getting this one at all.
