You just have to wear a watch every day. Does that also include a knife in your pocket?

A few Sundays back, I attended my brother's church. He was sitting next to me fiddling with his tie to keep himself from dozing off. He noticed a stray thread and quietly nudged me, "Hey...you have a knife?" Me?...of course I did! I produced my Case Tuxedo and handed it to him. He opened up the pen blade and neatly cut the thread. Upon handing the knife back to me he whispered, "Nice knife!" Yeah...I saved the day in style!

If I don't wear a watch daily, I might as well be wearing nothing. I feel the same way if my right pocket doesn't have one of my pocket knives stuffed into it. Do you also carry a knife daily to accompany your watch? Is this something you also feel compelled to do?

For work, every day I have a backpack, and yes, it has a leatherman that I regularly find myself using.

Outside if that, I have too many pocket knives, and while I lIke the idea of carrying one for utility purposes, not protection, I simply dislike clutter in my pocket. I’ve tried a bunch. I’ve managed to eliminate all keys (except my car fob) and my wallet is as thin as one can possibly be.

I need a tiny knife.

I used to carry a normal-sized pocket knife, but had to run back to the car/hotel too many times.

I generally do not now.

·

Being Swiss, I’m not allowed to ever be without a knife. Then again, why would you.

·

I don’t leave the house without at least a good watch, knife, and flashlight.

I own a Gerber Micro Lite for when you don't even want to feel a knife. That might be right up your alley. It's a little single-bladed dynamo.

Yeah, totally. I don't carry my Leatherman Skeletool, SOG Paratool or even my Spyderco much at all any more because they are too big. One awesome sauce knife I love that is only three inches long and weighs 1.8 ounces is the Old Timer Middleman. It's pictured above and I think it's the Bull's nuts for sure.

Now that's what I like to hear! I have opened many a can with my Victorinox soldier's knife!

Yeah, I still carry my Mini Mag a lot that I bought way back in 1988. Still haven't had to replace the bulb with the spare😂

·

I carry a military grade multitool, small tape measure, 2 inch folder and Victorinox utility card with multiple useful tools. And a 1 inch titanium stinger on my key ring. I guess 4 knives now i think about it. Construction needs tools.

I like the utility card. I have a blue one.

Have one of those and a few other smaller ones, very handy, but still not entirely comfortable to keep in pocket.

·

Yep and while I don’t bother trying to match my watch with my clothes I’ll quite often try to match it with my knife.

Victorinox Swiss Army Cyber Tool.  My server room tool kit, cork screw, bottle opener, scissors and, of course, knife.  Sadly, they don't seem to make it anymore.  Gift from a former employer which I've had for quite a long time.

I carry one in my work bag and as I'm nearly always at work, yeah I definitely carry one. So handy and I always get comments from my fellow work mates when I produce a knife in times of need, the call me the Boy Scout as I'm always prepared 🤣

Knife carrying is problematic where I live, since the law is largely focused on the intent of the person carrying the knife, and not so much on the type of the knife carried, resulting in a grey area of what is legal. So no, I hardly ever carry a knife, or if so, mostly around the house and the yard.

Benchmade makes a sweet knife!

I resisted spending for one, since they aren't cheap, but I love mine now.

·

Is that one by your Boldr a Kershaw?

No it’s from Tactile knife.

Man I would have never thought Ohio would be strict like that. Where I'm from you can almost walk around with your 870 Express slung over your shoulder.

You can do that in Ohio. You can sling your FN FAL across your back and ride a motorcycle. It's not that unusual that in the US firearms are precisely regulated, while knife laws are vague.

Yeah, top quality.

Thanks the company started of making pens believe it or not. But their knives are great if a little pricey.

Yes. I am compelled to carry. Welcome to the world of EDC (every day carry) if you will.

The knife changes daily, and until the #1WC so did the watch. The strap changes semi-daily, but the light and SAK don’t change.

What is it with knives?

carry one in the U.K. and you’ll find yourself arrested………lots of knife crime here, especially In the London borough’s

·

Oh Hell Yes!.

In my day every kid got a BB gun, a first wristwatch and generally your Father's old pocket knife.

This was the beginning of a life long habit for Old Guys like me.

My Wife spent more time stitching up my pockets than making dinners. 🤣😂🤣.

As the weight of the pocket knife would eventually work a hole in the pocket.   In fact it's only since the 1990's that I got my first knife on your hip, Leatherman.  PLEASE no comments like, oh I was born that year!.

Despite wearing a Leatherman for almost 30 years, you can still find my pocket knife in my pocket 😂 and an ever growing hole as, well.

I guess it's habit, it's that simple.

Knives are great tools and beautifully-made. They feel good in the hand and are enjoyable to polish and care for. That's what it is for me...when it comes to knives.

True that. If you were a Cub Scout, did you ever have the little blue BSA trapper knife with the clip point blade, can opener and awl?

I have to agree!.

I have several now, collected albeit almost accidentally over the years.

It seems every guy or gal I meet who collect watches, also collect knives.

I didn't, though a close friend had and still today, has one.

My Father (R. I. P) left me a beautiful set of knives. He was a good old fashioned pipe smoker and all his life he carried the 3.

One for his pipe, One he got in the 1950's in the army, which still looks new and the 3rd is a marble handled apple knife.

It has one peel blade, one for taking out the core and a larger blade for slicing.  Of course useless by today's standards but like watches, the knives hold wonderful memories.

Been carrying a knife since I was a kid. I got a collection of super affordable but good knives, been carrying an inexpensive spyderco a lot recently. And a multitool in my bag or on keys. My fave knife was a Kershaw cryo I lost somewhere, followed by a skeletool which ruled.

Oh dang. Kershaws are awesome. I forgot my Lil' Cody was in my carry on when I flew somewhere a few years back and the buggers at security confiscated it.
