Gold. The warm, gleaming 31.1 gram-per-ounce worm sign of avarice. Long have gold (or at least in my working man's experience) gold tone watches been employed to embrace the wrist with silky finesse, and present to the masses an amulet of strength, resolve and unwavering fortitude. As a boy in the silk shirt and hairy chest-soaked 70's, I often admired strong men hefting their golden wrist presence while hammering a nail or hanging wall paper for the wife. The ladies would haunt the mall corridors and frequent the beauty shops while adorned with their magical golden fleece chains, bracelets...and dainty gold watches. Alas, those days are gone. Or are they? Do they have to be? Can they come back? Did they ever leave? What is your view on gold watches and do you implement them in your watch wearing repertoire?

I generally prefer silver, but I do have a number of gold tone watches.
My wife got me this Casio A100 Pac Man,
so I had to get this gold Timex T80 Pac Man to match. 😜
I got the Griffy in gold because it reminds me of my father's Armitron LED watch he had in the 1970s.
These next two black and gold watches were gifts from my wife. If you compare then to the Casio A100, you may see a pattern. My wife likes black and gold. 😀
Only rose gold piece I have, but very much enjoy its warmth

I am luxuriating in the warmest bath of your gold watch offerings! I am geeking on the Pacmans and love the Relic! And who couldn't have the Griffy over for a night of drinks?

Wow! Gorgeous! I think I paid about the same for my Mazda😂

Thanks, it's pre owned of course, and from the long defunct Jules Audemars line, so thankfully not nearly as pricey as any RO

I also have a Rubik, but mine is one of the silver versions instead of gold. I found it on Amazon for $31 and couldn't pass it up. I really think Armitron deserves much more respect. What other company offers a stainless steel case on a budget digital watch?
Just a few inexpensive ones. One day would like a 36mm day date or vintage gold seamaster

I couldn't agree more. Like yours, my Armitron Rubik is nicely weighted with it being all stainless. I have to live with a painted plastic case when I wear my Casio A700W. I have really gotten on the Armitron train of late. I bought another big Prosport a few weeks back and reach for it all of the time out of the watch drawer because it's so damn cool --especially for being 40 bucks!
I love gold watches and wear mine with pride. 🥳
I still need a 2 tone in my collection 👍

That Timex is luscious!

Love that Lord Elgin with the Breguet numerals! 🤩

Hey, isn't that your Crystron you got for a song (like 7 bucks) and had it restored?
Not really a fan of gold watches, but I do have one…
I prefer steel normally but I have a couple of vintage gold capped watches which, for me, spice up the collection. Other than a pair of blue dials I don’t have much color on my dials.
I have to admit being a Sicilian from NY - I love my gold watches. I also enjoy gold-tone watches.
Here are some of my favorites that are gold:

That LeCoultre is like reading a poem of sublimity!
I’ve got two gold with leather bands, and two gold/steel mixed metal (gasp!). I like ‘em!
Girard-Perregaux:
Ball Railmaster:
Gevril 15º:

The Railmaster speaks to me. It is a textbook illustration of the phrase, 'elegant precision'.
Well...I do say that is still a tidy offering, my dear sir.
Yep thanks it suits the Duro with its big face!
I dunno. Think maybe a Vacheron 222 could change your mind?
Maybe...
Actually following my statement of dislike for gold watches I have realised that in addition to my duro I have a Henry dress quartz which has some gold bits....the shame!
Absolutely stunning! My two favorites are your Subby, in I presume 18K YG, plus the ladies with the rubies and mother of pearl dial.
Thank you for your kind words. you are right, the sub is in 18K YG. Do you wear your gold watches matching the occasion or your dressing or just don’t care and wear them anytime/anywhere as you please?

I just wear them as my whim dictates. Life in itself is unpredictable...why not hop onto its wild ride?
Personally not really a fan of gold watches
My latest acquisition, a gold-plated Oris Twin Date.
Personally, I prefer almost anything but gold. It’s just not me. Looks good on other folks. My Dad used to wear gold and I thought it looked badass. Then I tried one on and instantly not a fan. I try not to stand out and Gold is the first thing that sticks out. I’m more of a silver/dark color kind of guy.
I love them. I hope to get the gold tone prx soon!
Yah got me good, I got none😕
In the last few months, I have been leaning into gold tones. They are surprisingly versatile and look great on many straps. I have a Zodiac GMT two-tone which I am a really digging and a Seiko Dx from 1970 that was my dad's 21st birthday present; he gave it to me last year and I recently got it serviced and it's working perfectly.
If you routinely wear gold (rings, bracelet on other hand, etc.), it can look fantastic, though for most situations I personally prefer silver. The right gold/two-tone watch paired with other gold accessories can look awesome though
