Affordable dresswatch

Hi Guys,

I'm searching for a dress watch for around 200-300 euros. It doesn't necessarily have to have an automatic movement.

There is a couple of watches, that I've checked earlier like the bambino and the Roamer Classic, but I'm curious about your opinion.

Don't say that you aren't tempted.

(Seriously, there are many good options. I don't know that anything beats the Bambino.)

·

tissot heritage visodate (old model)
can found used for about 300 or maybe less.

Would you consider vintage?

If it works properly yes.

ok… well yes that is a point to consider. You mentioned Roamer, old Roamer is a good shout, but there are a lot of good things out there. Brand are not necessarily key, you need to consider movements - always look and check them, avoid pin-pallet, so consider anything with the word Incabloc on it as a good starting point.

Some Seiko 5's can be dressed up with a nice leather strap.

Pictured are my SNK361 and SNXS79. Both of which are discontinued but I only purchased them quite recently so they are still available on the market. I paid the equivalent of 95USD for each, excluding the aftermarket strap, which was about 36USD.

How about the Seiko SNKL23 for less than euro100?

You may find a pre-loved Seiko Cocktail time in that price range.

I have just ordered the Lobinni 1888, the one with the micro-rotor movement, thus super-thin (8.5mm). Pretty much bang on 200 Euros on Ali. Haven't got it yet, but here's the catalogue shot.

Vintage dress watch well under your budget. I have about 20 like it. Vintage is its own obsession: higher highs, lower lows.

Bulova Precisionist, about $250. Supposed to be accurate to 60 seconds a year. BTW, it comes in blue, black and two tone, silver with a gold bezel.

Indeed… small selection as well, all well under the budget. If you have questions then don’t be afraid to ask.

Check out vintage king seiko or vintage seiko and citizen on eBay. You'll find lots of amazing watches that fit the dress watch description perfectly and you'll get a watch that when new was very expensive and over engineered to last a lifetime. You'll get more bang for ya buck.

I don’t have any first hand experience, but if you want something similar to the Cartier Tank, the Bulova 96B107 may be worth looking into.

Maybe a Certina DS Caimano Precidrive? It's a nice gateway to high-accuracy quartz, looks the part, and if you accidentally knock it on something, the DS system should do its job just fine. If you fall into the water at a black tie poolside party, no worries either - 100m WR, which is pretty damn good for a dress watch.

If ok with quartz: pre-owned Credor Quartz references, Seiko Dolce, Seiko SWR049(tank style), Orient Capital.

Automatic: anything with Miyota 90xx movements (Islander, Traska, etc)

Orient Star blows the Bambino out of the water, and a couple of Seiko’s I’ve had.
