TAG F1 Quartz

What's the communities opinion of the TAG F1 quartz. well made, worth the money, over priced?

TAG Heuer get a bad wrap in the press but I have a Carrera which I love. So I was after some views of their quartz offerings.

I have the Aquaracer quartz, and I love it, but I also got it at a really good price used. I think if you look for a mint condition used, it is a good deal, especially if you can find one for around or under $1000.

Thanks Robert, I like the look of the new Aquaracer 200 quartz without the date as well so will have to try hard not to end up with both!

I love the Aquaracer and the Carrera. I'm not a big fan of the Formula One with the big plastic-looking bezel, but some have a smaller metal bezel that are okay. The big black bezels really don't wear well, and it's hard to find one of those that are in good shape used.

If you like it go for it.

I think in my opinion it's an ok-watch but not for the retail price. You pay a lot for the name.

As an alternatives the Longines Hydroconquest Quartz or the Hamilton Khaki Navi Scuba Quartz  would be better maybe.

I have a Tag F1 quartz and love it. They’re pricey brand new, so if you desire one shop around and wait for special discounts.

That said, not sure I would pay that much for a quartz in the future (except the 9F or Citizen Chronomaster). There are so many well made automatics at similar price points now (Conquest, Alpinist, PRX, and Tudor 1926, etc). I’d prob opt for one of those.

That said, please get what you like and enjoy it.

Thanks, I’m after another quartz so will see if I can pick up a nice used one with the metal bezel

I have a couple of TAG’s including a F1 Quartz and I like it. In online pictures the black bezel doesn’t come up great and in some pictures it looks like plastic, but hands on it’s really nice.

The only thing I’d ask TAG to improve would be the rubber strap. It does it’s job, but when I compare it to my rubber Raymond Weil strap it’s not in the same league. The TAG strap clearly looks like rubber, whilst the RW passes for a leather driving strap.

You can get the F1 Quartz on sale so shop around and you can pickup a nice piece.

It’s my go to watch when I play golf and I‘m really happy with it.

Which one - the series dates back to the 80s and has had numerous revisions?

TAG Heuer get a bad wrap in the press

… and I’m going to ask, like I ask everyone else who says stuff like this, to elaborate and why.

Just what I’ve read in the press and on forums, being over priced, especially the quartz models, just paying for the name. The grief they got over after buying the rights to the Seiko chrono calibre and calling it an in house movement (even though I believe they did modify it) etc.

I’m very fond of TAG Heuer, Just wanted an opinion on the quartz models are I’ve never owned one from TAG.
