We all have the one watch. The one we know we can never, ever have. The one that would make the rest of them redundant. The one you can't even fantasize over as it just leaves a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach?
I think my brain is entirely too rational to desire something I'd never hypothetically be able to own. A precondition for me wanting something for myself is being able to afford it comfortably.
But oddly enough, I don't have any problem wanting something for someone else. I do fantasize about the watch I would buy my wife if I managed to move all the chips around the right way.
The Van Cleef and Arpels Heures Florales.
The list price quarter million USD (a theoretically attainable price in a very lucky scenario) but I'm guessing it's one of those "you gotta buy your way to having the opportunity to buy it" things.
Probably the only expensive watch I REALLY want. I could afford one if I really wanted, but the fact that parts will run out and so on stresses me out ๐ค
However there are several I watches I really want, keep looking at and can definitely afford. But I never pull the trigger ๐ค Maybe I'll make a post.
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Everest Dual Time Limited Edition Titanium
I would love to own this, it's my unobtainable grail. But, I'll never own it, only 150 were made and they are selling way above the $31k MSRP that was at retail. Makes me a little bit sad, but I'm ok with it.
(Also I have come to terms with the fact that I am not going to spend that much on a watch, no matter my finances, just can't justify it, too many other things that take priority.)
A Nautilus or Royal Oak I guess. I love the Nautilus especially but canโt afford one now. And even if I could, I wouldnโt buy it since it is a super recogniseable and hyped watch. Not only would I be afraid about it being stolen but also of wearing it out and about. In short; I just couldnโt enjoy wearing it and that breaks the deal for me.
There's a lot, (maybe even the one I have been lusting after forever, but that's another topic), but this one.
Too many things would need to change for me to ever 1) be able to afford it, 2) find one available (stupid LE's) and finally, really feel comfortable wearing it.

I understand, we all have different places in life, and my "Can never afford it" maybe different from yours. But its a commonality shared by us all. What is it?

Breaking peoples hearts out here๐
Mine would be this;
No matter my financial standing in the future, i cant foresee spending more than 8 grand on a watch.
Paul Newman Daytona..
Nuff Said :)
Usually if I see something and think, "i must have it", it's limited edition. So there's probably a lot of these for me lol
Newman daytona or a 1655.
I could.. but I wonโtโฆ unjustifiable.

no watch is that important to waste emotion and energy on thinking about it. Again, just my opinion
Normally I enjoy looking and fantasize every watches (except fakes), but one brand that I cannot stand is Jacob & Co.

I'm just glad its only the one. But its pretty much one of the ones that got me started. That and the Willard. I have homages of both.
