I was gifted a perfectly useless evening and definitely wear the watch out. Bit more subtle than the afternoon maybe helps with the wearability but it is perfectly comfortable.
Went through a similar situation recently and I only had a service done and I couldn’t be happier. The watch is exactly how I saw it on my grandad, with the loose bracelet, but now it just keeps perfect timing and looks the exact same.
My two most recent reads are The Book of Rolex by Jens Hoy and The Cartiers by Francesca Cartier Brickell. Highly recommend both!
eBay can definitely be worthwhile but only if you get the notification with x% off their fees.
If not really in any rush could also leave them on Chrono24 and might get a higher price.
