So today I went into this store - it's the size of a small bedroom and can best be described as three huge piles of crap. From my conversations with this guy I'm pretty sure it's just a small part of his hoard of crap because he keeps mentioning that he's going to bring more stuff from his storage space.
I've seen his prices before so I wasn't surprised but today was extra special.
Just as I was coming in, another guy was asking about a vintage-looking dagger/knife. The shop owner kept saying it's genuine German/Nazi but the guy was obviously knowledgeable and told him it was a replica and left quickly.
So I start looking through some of the trays of mostly broken watches and he takes out a few more from a bag to show me.
All of them (except maybe one Casio) were fakes or unknown Chinese crap. But with every one he would say the name like it's genuine before telling me the prices which he came up with on the spot after inspecting each watch. (I've spoken to him before so I've given up trying to tell him his shit is fake. He also has a very special definition of "new".)
Most didn't have straps or just one side of the strap.
They were scratched like they were stored in a bag of rocks for several years. And half had the glass cracked.
He tried to tell me one of them was brand new. - Strapless and scratched to shit.
(He also said this about a fake Casio so old that the plastic strap was literally broken up into 5 separate pieces inside the packaging.)
The cheapest one today was a Casio with a very rusty spring bar for $57.
And the most expensive was a fake Hublot for $144 with almost all the paint having pealed off the base metal in big flakes.
I didn't have the energy today to call him out on his bullshit. I just had to go out for some groceries and this place is on the way.
I guess eventually people buy stuff from him if they don't know the difference or maybe are blind. 🤷
