MoonSwatch - fragile overpriced landfill?

Buttons that snap off, glass that scratches if you touch it and material so crap that it stains your skin. 馃馃し

But you can get a used Omega made of metal from around 200 bucks for ones listed as fair condition.聽

Then you'll have an actual Omega. Not a Swatch that should cost $10.

Or just get a titanium Casio. 馃槇

Maybe it's just me but I'd rather have a watch that lasts for decades. Not one that turns to dust when you sneeze too close to it.

But tell me if I'm wrong. I've been wrong before. (One time many years ago.)

Easy solution for you; don't buy one & don't talk about it.聽

The more MoonSwatch references online; both positive AND negative, the more the marketing team at Swatch counts as interest in the MoonSwatch.聽

Complaining about it doesn't do what you want it to.聽

I wanted one but the fact that I live 5 hours away from a Swatch store with no online sales option means I will never get one.聽

But it is what it is, a plastic novelty watch and no amount of negative postings on here or other forums changes the fact that some people like them and want to buy them.聽

The cheapest Onega Sea Master Professional 300M on Chrono24 is $770. For starters, that鈥檚 three moonswatches, and only if you鈥檙e a lady. It will cost another grand if you want to get a men鈥檚 version, so it is totally out of the picture as an alternative.聽

Now if you want a constellation, those do start around $500 for a men鈥檚, but it鈥檚 over 50 years old, and you can鈥檛 set the time since the crown is broken.聽

So in addition to not having a chronograph, you have to at least double your money down.聽

There鈥檚 no reason to bash anyone else鈥檚 taste, especially when you are doing it in such a dishonest way.聽

Our individual watch tastes are such a funny thing!

Take this for example...

If I was going to go purely on specs and best value for money, I would have gone with a Casio.... in fact if we were purely going to go on specs and reliability we would all just be getting Casios! Paying more than 拢15 for ANY watch is ridiculous really. But we are a weird lot with a weird collection of tastes, and thank heavens! The WRUW thread would be bloody dull if we didn't!

I'm buying more vintage watches now, and that makes even less sense! Buying something that could be broken within days, you can't send back, difficult to source parts and fixing it may cost many more times what the watch is actually worth 馃槅聽

That Timex is my favorite Casio. 鉂わ笍
