How do you enjoy watches? (Other than purchasing)

I've got a few ideas but I'd love to hear your input.

I don't have money at the moment and I don't want a big collection anyways.

Spending hours on forums gets old quickly. It's nice for a few minutes at a time I think.

And browsing the web searching for the grail is not something I ever really enjoyed. Often it felt like more of an obsession than a hobby. Do you feel that as well?

Eventually I found one or two that had all the features but I can't buy one now anyways.

Traveling costs even more than many watches but I guess that's an option for some people.

I guess exploring the local area is free. Not a lot to see or do where I live though. Also it kinda sucks outside. It's either wet or boiling hot or swarming with mosquitoes (my hate for those little bastards knows no bounds).

Watch photography seems to be popular. But after 15 years as a photographer it's just not something I want to do in my free time - except on rare occasions.

Or combining it with other interests? I got this fun device to play old Pokemon games. I prefer driving simulators on a computer but I don't have the equipment for that at the moment.

Making videos about watches maybe if you're into that.

And maybe learning to use more features in your watch or learning to use it in new ways. Like for cooking.

Or just hanging out I guess. But there's only so much time you can spend fondling your watch.

I'm not really the type to go to meetups or conventions. Mostly just because I find it tiring to spend that much time traveling to places and back.

But tell me what do you do to enjoy watches?

Research, community, adventure, and use.

I enjoy watching YouTube and reading reviews, and learning various histories of how certain things came to be. It adds to the appreciation of what I have and a wonder of what else is out there. Community does much the same.

Travel and use help me “bond” with a watch. It doesn’t have to be exotic, but road-trips, hiking, swimming, and even chores are a way to give myself purpose and fulfillment, and like any good tool the watch is there to help me through.
