Casio have no chill 馃う

There are so many things people actually went in Casio watches - like standard lugs - meanwhile Casio are busy painting the Earth on the already ugly bezel of a G Shock.

There are almost no brands that have the technology to make a watch as tough and loaded with features as Casio. Which is why it's such a shame that they don't seem to listen to customers and ruin most of their watches with bad designs and comfort issues.

Yes it麓s ugly, but i think it sells good enough to make it, thats the problem.聽

It will do well because people love big ugly watches that claim to be tough. 聽I don't think there's any pressure on Casio to design more subdued watches, people love this stuff.

Casio are essentially high-quality fashion watches now. They didn't used to be that, but they are as of late. There is a new line of GShock models every month basically haha.

I still think they are great, and the best part is they last a long time and are accessible to mostly everyone.

Any watch company could do what Casio does, they don't because Casio and Timex already cover the demand.

Most giant G-Shocks are just fashion accessories, like 75% of the Arc'teryx gear sold.聽

When I see a guy with a Mudmaster I see a Geardo.

There are lots of clones but the finishing is low quality, they are fragile and the features aren't as good.

There's 70 years and billions of dollars that have gone into casio manufacturing.

聽Check out some videos about how they makes watches. As far as I know they are most advanced watch factories in the world.聽

Timex, Garmin, Fitbit, etc., 聽make watches that do the same stuff, sometimes for more money, sometimes for less money. Casio has a rabid watch community following because of a few influencers, and groupthink, but they aren't particularly special.聽

If Swatch Group, Rolex, Seiko, etc., thought the market for overbuilt toy digital watches wasn't saturated already, they'd make watches to compete.聽

They might look the same to someone who doesn't use them. Garmins require charging. Fitbit is a plastic smart tracker. Timex have a small selection with less features and no good analog-digital models that I can think of.聽

It's not the same.

The only competitor with finishing quality, reliability and features (all together, not just one) is citizen. But again it's a smaller selection.聽

Yeah... agree to disagree.聽

More features is usually fluff. As someone who needed a durable, reliable, legible digital watch to wear in a war, a Timex Atlantis was perfect. The G-Shocks of the time offered more fluff, but nobody who needs temperature, altimeter, or humidity uses a watch to get it.聽

Kestrel makes a device that does all of that, and wind, with a ballistic calculator...

The Garmin does what the Casio watches do, but also does GPS...聽

Casio make good watches, but they aren't special.聽

Ani-digi is an evolutionary dead end that peaked in the 90s., it's cool if you like them, but they are neither practical nor cutting edge.聽

It all depends on uses.聽

Analog digital has the benefit that you can see the time no matter what mode you're using. I use digital timers many times a day for work and all-digital is a pain in the butt.聽

Yeah most the features are fluff but some are really useful like the timers. I'm not in the army but yes I see what you mean.聽

But apart from Casio and Citizen I'm not aware of any watches that really do ana-digi features well while also being well made and reliable. Titanium, sapphire, radio, solar, etc.聽
