All my watches have issues ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Inspired by @mjosamannen's post, who said he is mostly happy with his 3 watch collection - here are the issues I have with mine.

The top two are just garbage I got for nothing. So ignore those.

The silver painted plastic Casio "Royale" feels cheap and I don't like the display. I just use it as my extreme beater on rare occasions. I think I'll give it to my cousin when I find a better beater.

The green g shock is one of the biggest squares they make. It's just a bit huge on my 6.5" wrist. - But I don't like the display on the smaller ones.

Sorry the photos are not in order.

The Citizen has no countdown timer which I need daily and it's also fairly heavy so I just never use it anymore. I also feel it's a bit too chonky for a dressy watch.

And the titanium Casio is mostly fine but the timers aren't long enough and are a bit annoying to adjust due to not having a 4th button. And looks wise it's fine but a bit boring.

Having said that. I fully realize that I'm lucky to own watches at all. I could have been born in a poor country with no food or opportunities etc.

So for now I've stopped searching for the perfect watch. I'm just keeping my eye out on me Casio releases in case they ever get their shit together and make something truly great.

  1. Comfy. With slightly expanding bracelets for temperature changes.

  2. Not super heavy. Titanium would be nice.

  3. With standard lugs.

  4. With a good digital display - or ana-digi combo. I'm not so picky if it's functional and not extremely stupid (see below).

  5. With a backlight that's not harsh on the eyes at night (or just lume that I don't need to squint at).

  6. No extremely stupid design elements like Christmas trees, swards, shower drains, or mode pointers that have three directions, etc. This is getting really common on g shocks.

I've been looking at the ggb100 for ages.

But the fixed strap is a pain. And it's kinda huge and heavy.

There's this but the long lug to lug size just doesn't fit me that well.

Here's the missing photo.

Are you sure it's the watches that have issues??๐Ÿ˜‰

ยท

Have you looked at Timex to see if they make anything at appeals?

Yeah thanks there's nothing that fits. They have a pretty small selection.

Yes they are seeing a therapist once a week

You know, it's a bit pricey, but I really like my Hamilton Khaki Pilot Flight Timer.

I prefer a leather strap, but I believe there are models that come on a bracelet. Alpina also makes some nice analog digital models. I am looking to add one of those to my collection this year.

Have you tried a dive bezel as timer? I have a contender if that is an option:

It comes in other colors too, but this is my favorite. It's not Titanium, but the 38mm makes it light an comfortable. Quality solar movement. Date and timing function. Decent bracelet, but I would add a couple of CNS Marine Nationale/Paratrooper straps that expands:

I bit expensive maybe, but my guess is that you can get it for about half MSRP on sale or second hand. And you would never need another watch ๐Ÿ˜Š

But I would check in the store or get the ones I bought it from second hand to guarantee for the alignment of bezel and so on, that the second hand hits the markers and that the bezel turns smoothly all the way around.

Thanks but I need the countdown alarm and the daily alarms and the accurate chronograph. So digital is needed.

And my last experience with Seiko has put me off them completely.

That Lineage is so beautiful.

With respect for your many fine wc posts, I will say with humility that I would commit harder to the Royale, maybe buy more of them, and try modding them?

Agree I made it in to my only mod watch in my Collection.
