Had a bit fun modding my Timex Q at the weekend. Bleached the bezel and changed the bracelet out for a Casio one. The Red hasn’t quite turned Fuschia - more of a light red/pink. The blue has turned into an almost Sky Blue. Depending on the light, both colours vary quite significantly. Very happy with the results.
Really into watches and photography. Come say Hi on here or IG: chunghauphoto
Whoa! How did you bleach it? Like, with, you know, actual bleach?

Well….! I thought you could remove the bezel (you can’t). So I had to apply the bleach with a cue tip/cotton bud. It gets everywhere - the crystal, the case etc so you have to be quite careful. Just wipe away after you apply it. Wait a few minutes, then get a fresh bud and just rub away at the bezel. Repeat until you have your desired colour. I started off with some crappy bleach and it took ages. Found some thicker stronger stuff which was much better and quicker. Keep an eye on the bezel itself because it will degrade. Gave it a good wipe down after with a damp cloth.
Any dried bits of bleach, I polished off with cape cod.
looks older after the bleach 👍👍. however the process seems scary to do 😂
Timex - reliable workhorse for daily wear; one of my favourite brand beside Seiko and Zenith 😎

@Unholy It’s not really scary. You don’t have to take anything apart. Just had to be careful handling the bleach. I used a loupe but that also meant I had to put up with the smell of bleach in such close proximity. It does look older - the red/pink part especially
That bracelet looks so good on there! As does the faded bezel, just haven’t seen anyone do a bracelet swap on a Q like that. Did you have to modify it at all for such a flush fit?

@circleT Thanks. I saw someone do the bracelet swap out on IG. The Casio A158 is an exact swap out (£30 for the watch). Then I saw a post of someone fading the bezel which led to the weekend’s shenanigans! I might put a jubilee on it but that will probably mean getting out the Dremel….
Looks really good!
Great job. Looks really good IMO.
I always love to see some Timex modding. It look wonderful! It’d be great for Timex to embrace modding culture with more swappable parts to, like having a removable bezel and/or bezel insert. Also, they released new Timex Q with a rubber “tropical” strap and it would be great if they’s sell those straps (tbh, all of the straps on their watches) separately too.

That’s a good idea! Could be a hit with people and build an interesting community
Gives it a well-worn look. Nice!
