GS Bond St Karesansui

Had a chance to visit the new Grand Seiko boutique on New Bond Street in London. Two storeys - GS on the Ground Floor and Seiko on the 1st Floor. Even a few JDMs were there too. The staff were very friendly and happy to chat. Had the opportunity to try this on too: ‘Karesansui’ SBGY029. Limited to 50 pieces and exclusive to the boutique.

I finally found the new boutique today. Tried it on. A really great size.

Looks good. I'm just waiting for @JaeBust to buy one for his collection.

Did you try winding it (like I did)? 😂

Did you like the boutique?

·

Wow beautiful! Nothing like this in Los Angeles.  I'll bet the shop was beautiful too

The service guy stopped me when I tried to pull the crown out😀Very friendly staff. I didn’t go downstairs. I went to the Knightsbridge boutique first ( after Harrods where I recruited a new member).

Oh really? Pretty big market not to have a boutique. The pieces were well organised and were available to be taken out to be shown to any client at their request - although that sounds like a minimum requirement, it’s not always the case. It certainly felt like people would be welcome and chat about watches

Ah well done! Could be a ‘Recruiter’ or ‘Headhunter’ badge be in the works…😉

There is a boutique in Beverly Hills. It's small and I'm not a fan of the area at all. Just a lot of flexing Instagram posers and people taking themselves far too seriously. There's a new crime element that sucks as well. My hope is that Grand Seiko will open something in a less conspicuous area.

That sounds awful. Unfortunately we have the crime element here too

Great watch! I also visited the store yesterday. My favorite is the SGBY007. Absolute beauty.

I REALLY like this too. Great to see the Spring Drive in smaller and thinner cases

100%. I have pretty small wrist and this 38.5mm case is just perfect for me. And having the power reserve at the back makes the dial even more beautiful

Can’t wait to visit the new store, sounds great and definitely a better location IMO.

If you go via the Elizabeth Line then coming out of the Hanover Sq exit means you’re about a minute’s walk from it via the new office/retail office block

·

Might have to go take a look in the new year — especially considering I quite like JDM stuff.
(Early on in this hobby, I was both amazed and annoyed to find out you could get Sapphire crystals on certain Citizen Eco-drives. Would have saved me a bomb in Polywatch at that time.)

·

Wow, it’s quite hypnotizing. Literally. did it hurt your head to look at?  Almost feels like the lines start moving if you stare for too long.

Wow, what a fun piece. My local AD has a great selection but I would love to visit a boutique. None near me. 😕

Man, I'd be all over that watch if I could get my hands on one. Sounds like Grand Seiko is making moves in Europe. It seems like over the past couple of years the United States got all the attention, a new boutique in New York, US exclusive releases, lots of events. Now it seems the UK and Europe will get some attention.

It‘s certainly a nice thing that they do for the local markets. Not only the limited editions but plenty of interactions with invitations to openings, introducing new models to enthusiasts, attending meetups/shows. Over here, in the UK, they’ve also started appearing in Watches of Switzerland (??) stores too. The GS profile is definitely on the rise compared to a few years ago where it was firmly just on the radar of enthusiasts and vintage collectors

Would be nice if they had one in Orange County around Newport/Fashion Island area. Or even at South Coast Plaza. I’d assume the crime isn’t as bad down there compared to Beverly Hills but I haven’t lived in Orange County since 2016.

The OC is very safe. That area would be perfect for a GS boutique

·

Great pic - that whirlpool dial looks pretty mesmerizing.  Lucky you, I’m sure it was fun place to browse! 🍀

Im doubtful we will get anything like that boutique in YVR.  No crime element to speak of, but a large tax element, among some other problems GS would face in this city.  I will have to look for it next time I’m in Tokyo 😕

·

BTW-

Kare - dry

San - mountain

sui - water

It refers to the way traditional gardens or scenery has the imagery or idea of water, without actually using water.  The dial does that nicely!

·

That dial is 😍.
