Handsets on dials

I don’t know about the watch communities in general scope , but if I dislike the handset on an otherwise beautiful watch , I won’t touch it . There are many brands out there that stops me from buying the watch because my OCD doesn’t allow me to even contemplate the purchase due only to the handset. I would like to hear the thoughts on other enthusiasts who have been stymied by my same bug bear ! The watch image in the post is one I actually liked , watch shopping/ browsing for my wife in Thailand.

I'm not touching a snowflake hand or a character watch without character hands. I know that theoretically just about any set of hands can be swapped out for something else, but this becomes a guessing game. Were it that easy, I'd have gotten rid of those blocky square ended hands on my Timex Easy Reader already. I didn't really notice them at time of purchase.

I’ve never been a fan of Mercedes hands. I occasionally skip wearing my Tag F1 because of it.

Snowflake hands might have a purpose of increasing legibility in a dive watch under water, but I never want them on a watch I own.

Barely better are Mercedes hands

Don’t like snowflake hands with very few exceptions, really don’t like Syringe hands at all, and for running seconds I don’t like anything too heavy at all — a lollipop on diver vintage style is alright and makes sense, but not at the very end. Oh, and those ones where it looks like bits of square tape have been stuck on. Naff. Am a bit meh on Cathedral hands most of the time, too.

Do like sword, sometimes pencil, and dauphin hands — skeletonised or partly so will depend on the watch and the dial. Makes plenty of sense to see complications for example.

Not a fan of mixing types of mismatched hands though, even the omega circle/triangle is a bit iffy. There’s clear and simple, and then there’s designing for the mental acuity of a very small child, and it’s a very fine line at times.
