Let's see if we can't get some debate going on a Friday night...what's your favorite dive watch?

Many of you know where I stand on this topic, but that's irrelevant, what's your view? What is your ideal dive watch? Feel free to add other choices in the comments below...

I tried to put images into the Poll, but for some reason they don't show up despite them showing as uploaded...so here is what was intended to show next to each choice...

That’s the exact model of SSW that I’ve been lusting after for months.

·

Of the four the SMP, but overall the GSAR.

It's at least actually still an actual dive watch, and not just a men's fashion accessory.

It was a HODINKEE release...

Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Skin “Blue” Hodinkee Exclusive (ref. ZO9211)

I don't believe it is in stock any more.

I have the black dial variant, and I’m assuming the blue is also typically only available at military PX shops like the ZO9209 is. Hodinkee has some sort of deal where they’re able to get a few from time to time to sell to the general public, so it may come back in at some point.

And as much as I love it, it’s over the $1,000 limit I set for myself on watches moving forward, so it was always going to be unfulfilled lust anyway.

Of the list u provided, I've owned a seamaster and a zodiac. My only diver right now though is a seiko. My current ideal diver is a blue fin tuna, sbbn037.

·

I own a FF so that is where I'm at on the poll. For the record, the Omega is totally fine with me as well.

If we are talking Seamaster I vote…

Seiko, Seiko and Seiko 😂

Seiko, Seiko and Seiko 😂

I know, I know, I know...

That's why I didn't put Seiko as a choice...foregone conclusion who would win.

So many great Seiko choices...we could run a poll on favorite Seiko divers and not have enough slots for all the different references that could be listed.

Here are a couple of my favorites in the collection (not including my modded FiftyFive Fathoms)...

Love all my divees but the 2 I have deepest sentimental attachment with are my Planet Ocean ref 2901.50.81 & Sea Dragon ZO9901 🫶

Don't mind if I do! Surprise, surprise, my favorite dive watch is my Seiko Prospex LX SNR045. It's an awesome example of what Seiko is capable of when they really choose to flex their muscles. I consciously chose this watch over an Omega SMP and Tudor Pelagos, both of which I'd also been heavily considering as my first high end dive watch.

That's a beauty! Thanks for sharing.

Own three of the four and despite the basic nature of it, still love the Sub. The SMP300 is great, but the bracelet and bezel are not fitting a $2000 watch, never mind one 3X the cost. Zodiac is nice watch, but at MSRP is a horrible value when much better watches exist at 1/2 the cost. I hope one day to get a Blancpain, but I would probably go vintage, likely pre-Biver.

·

I really like any super-compressor case model over those icons.

I’m a dive watch fan through and through… tbh most all of them will do it for me.

The Fifty Fathoms is a classic that I really hope I get to own some day! The history, quality, precision, and details on them are excellent.

I’m also a huge fan of the Sub. Personally I’m a Sea-Dweller fan first due to no cyclops and it feels more toolish to me.

The Seamaster is also a close one for me too. Really thinking of pulling the trigger on one next actually! Just can’t decide between BB Pro and the SMP300 haha

Thanks for the cool post and topic!

Well, if you are not a Rolex fan, you may want to pick this one instead...

Damn! I forgot about that one. Lmao

Poorly executed that one… shame

Funny you have the Zodiak Super Sea Wolf 53. I recently found one at significant detail so I bought it on a whim. I have know Zodiac since the days that Dillard’s carried them, albeit those were quartz. The automatic was something new to me and surprisingly it is really sweet. It is even made by a fellow member of the Fossil Group. Great watch.

But for truly diving, I would rely on a Planet Ocean or Submariner.

What are the issues you've noted with the Omega Ultra Deep?

I'm truly curious

I’ve been trying to find my original post regarding it, but this platform makes hunting down your old posts impossible.

I think the bezel-to-dial ratio is wrong. I think the bezel numerals and the dial numerals clash (on many levels), almost to the point where I find reading the time is difficult. It’s like it was designed by a lot of different committees, none of which talked to each other during the development process, and when it came to delivery the deadline had already passed and everyone just hoped it worked let alone looked ok. Submariner-esque bezel, which seems weird for an Omega… you shouldn’t really have two types of numeral in different fonts, and if you have a numbered bezel the dial should really have indices for it not to look like a heated mess (a mess, to which, heat is applied). I don’t like the blue. I wouldn’t buy it if I was on the market for a diver over 45mm. Harsh, but fair…

ChronoGuy

You mean this one...

I almost used this one as the example. It was 50/50 with the HODINKEE limited edition.

I agree this is an excellent choice.

Yup! That’s one of my favorite divers of all time

·

Keep in mind that i live in the high desert about as far from diving as a person can be!! so, I dont dive but I enjoy the style. My favorite is the Blancpain 5015, and maybe the omega seamaster "dreamcycle"

Seiko, Seiko and Seiko 😂

But which model?? I have 5 actual Seiko Diver's in my collection, but room for more.

·

For me, the Seamaster is my favourite by far. I appreciate the new FF tech diver that came out recently, but it’s out of my price range. Not to mention, rather quite large.

The submariner has never really done much for me, and I’m not a fan of modern Rolex, though I appreciate the history.

Plus, I quite like Omega in general 😅 I’m a little biased.

·

definitely going with the Sub. Preferably no-date, but I'll settle for the date in this case :)

Rolex all day! But omega is amazing

Of the ones listed, the Zodiac has my favorite style.
