Mido Titanium

It’s me again.

Anyone here own a titanium Mido? I’ve had my fair share of Tissot and love them. For obvious reasons have not had access to Mido in the US until recently.

Im looking to get a travel watch and Mido caught my eye. I’m looking for a review from a Mido owner on their experience.

Gracias. Danke. Takk skal du ha.

I have a Mido but it’s not titanium. I do however have a Certina in titanium (sister brand) and am having trouble taking it off my wrist. You really do notice the difference in weight.

Which Mido did you have in mind?

I really like that Certina!! Both are great, but wow! We have a hard time getting either brand in the States as Swatch prefers to market Tissot here.

Had this Mido Ocean Star in mind.

Mido is popping up more and more down here, but I can only get Certina online. If you've had a Tissot before then you will know what you're in for. Quality is definitely on par with what you expect from the Swatch group. I've been really impressed with my Mido so far.

Teddy Baldassarre has mentioned the Ocean Star in a number of his videos over the past 12mths. He gives a pretty objectionable review and he seems to rates them pretty well. Not sure if he's done this particular model, but if you check out his other videos it will give you a good base idea.

As far as titanium goes, you should be warned that it does scratch pretty easily. I'm usually really careful with mine, but after 6 weeks or so my clasp (which has a divers extension on it) already has some big scratches on it. They say scratches become less obvious over time as the titanium starts to oxidise, but I haven't had mine long enough to know if there's any truth to that. Titanium is definitely lighter though and is a couple of shades darker than a standard steel bracelet. I'd say it has a warmer feel about it.

You can probably just pick up in my Certina pic that the bracelet and the lugs are not perfectly aligned. So if you run your finger over it the case has a sharp edge to it. It's nit picking, but for some people it could be an issue.

Cheers!
