Favorite Watch Strap Retailers?

Greetings Fellow Timepiece Nerds,

I‘m not in the market for a new strap. I have plenty.…for now. However, I am curious as to what your favorite strap retailer or makers are.

I live in the Seattle area and have been impressed with Holben’s Fine Watch Bands. Had a custom strap made from a lady in Canada once and it was perfect.

Where do you buy from? Who would you avoid?

I came to recommend Holben's, but I see my services aren't needed.

Because I've answered this question many times on this site, I won't repeat myself here. But you might wish to avail yourself of the search function. It's right in the middle at the top of the page. I suspect there are others who feel as I do.

Delugs or Hirsch is my go to.

·

Strapcode has some really nice offerings in both straps and bracelets.

I've also bought from Holbens, Barton, and Panatime.

I think they need to be talked about more. Really good people.

Both are solid choices. I’m a big fan of Delugs.

Strapcode is solid. I I think I have a bracelet and a rubber strap from them for my Turtle. Quality products. Have to look at Panatime.

Not sure what to do with that response, but thanks for posting.

Erika Originals for MN style

Hirsch for hybrid

Jean Rousseau for high end leather

blu Shark for a wide variety of nato

omega are of course great but grossly overpriced

·

Chinese no-name shops at Aliexpress, Alibaba and their ilk and this one guy that lives nearby who makes straps and other leather goods.

They're cheap, end of story.

@WatchCrunch we need a wiki feature because this topic definitely needs a complete wiki. Each thread has some slightly different answers and it would be amazing to have a big list of all the top recommendations for each price point and type. @ChippewaCraig I’m glad you asked this again since I learned of some new brands! Ignore the haters :P

Jean Rousseau and DeLugs

I've ordered from Holbens and Bartons and been happy with both.

Does anyone have any experience with Nomad Watch Works https://www.nomadwatchworks.shop/?  YouTube's algorithm spit out a video from someone who really liked their straps and I am sorely tempted.

Pretty sure a coworker bought one of Nomad’s rugged bands. Seems to be a good strap.

I’ve been tempted by JR in the past. Will have to check them out.

Hi ChippewaCraig,

Check out the recommendations here

·

I was searching through the posts looking for Nick Mankey to be mentioned. @henrikc just beat me to it. Good job, I agree!  I also like the Crown and Buckle Chevron, a very comfortable single pass strap.

·

I'm buying straps from Two Stitch Straps for a couple of years now, great value for money.

·

BluShark or Barton are good. Uncle Seiko if you are looking for Seiko alternatives.

Agreed! It's on our list 👍

I get custom straps from Martu Leather in Chile.  Chilean Post are slow but the price/quality value equation is outstanding.

Thanks for starting this topic! I've also been looking for straps and bracelets(a cheaper way of sating my watch itch :P) I find it hard because I have no idea about what a reasonable price for a strap is (I'm happy to pay more if I know the product will last a while but it is so hard to see them in person before buying.)

In an ideal world I would get some sort of magical waterproof leather strap :D

Check out the Hirsch performance line. Those are my go to summer leather straps. I've been impressed by them.

I got a suede strap recently from B&R straps in Brooklyn and am very pleased. Great texture, didn't break the bank, shipped fast

Barton

Hirsch

Crown and Buckle.

·

www.artisanstraps.com they come all the way from Australia, but quality is amazing and the price even better

·

Colareb straps are incredible quality.

Little late to this, but thought I'd throw in my two cents. I've been through a lot of straps and I think for me I've narrowed down what I like.

For leather straps, especially if you have an 8" wrist like I do, custom is the way to go. When going with a custom strap I find it's important to both have some knowledge of leather and order from a place that gives you information about the leather they use (otherwise you can pay as much for a corrected grain embossed leather strap as you do for a genuine Horween Shell Cordovan). I've had good luck with both Delugs and Velbenist. I slightly prefer Velbenist as the turn around time is quicker.

For NATO straps, my two favorite are Crown and Buckle Supreme and Artem. They're both on the high end, but are worth it. The Crown and Buckle gets you to about 90% of the quality of an Omega NATO but at 1/6 the price, and they'll convert it to a single pass for you (which is my favorite way to wear a NATO). The Artem strap is about 2x the price of Crown and Buckle but the quality is unmatched. I'd argue the quality of the hardware and construction is better than the Omega. The Omega is a little softer and more flexible, but I doubt you'd notice on the wrist.

Crown and Buckle also make a single pass Chevron strap that is excellent. It's very similar to the Tudor single pass fabric strap at a fraction of the price.

I'd also like to call out Haveston straps. Their single pass straps are good, especially the canvas ones. I don't know that I'd buy that many, as I prefer Crown and Buckle, but they make a 16mm ones and I haven't found anyone else making quality 16mm straps.

If you like elastic straps, I've bought from both Nick Mankey and The Watch Steward. I prefer the Nick Mankey by some margin (not that The Watch Stewards are bad), however they can take a long time to get. They truly are the most comfortable straps you can buy.

Probably my favorite straps are the Artem Sailcloth. They're expensive, but worth every penny IMHO. I think they look great on just about every sport watch and look great from casual looks up to fairly dressy. If you are into it, the deployant clasps they sell are also as good as any I've seen from a Luxury OEM.

Some honorable mentions are Zuludiver sailcloth and RSM Reversible Silk. The Zuludiver aren't really sailcloth IMHO. They're much more like a cotton lined rubber strap. But as someone who's struggled to find a rubber strap that is comfortable, these are a good alternative. I have one of these on my G-Shock. The RSM is the finest fabric strap I've ever handled. Unfortunately I just don't wear it very often. I thought it might be a good strap to dress up a sport watch, but with most of my watches ends up feeling a bit dainty. I actually now think it would be best slightly dressing down a dressier piece. I'm not sure I'd recommend it over the Crown and Buckle Chevron though. I got mine for $50 off retail and at that price it's steep. At the full retail I couldn't recommend it for most people (I did get a kick of putting it on a $40 Casio though).

·

I have an Artem sailcloth on my Sinn 556. It looks great and the quality is superb. I have a Colareb on my Bulova Lunar Pilot. I think they go together well. I highly recommend both brands.

I bought a very inexpensive dark leather strap for my Citizen field watch off Amazon. To my surprise the leather is soft, pliable, comfortable, and looks good. I lucked out.
