New to this hobby

I’m new here and wanted to introduce myself. The last 12 months have felt like a fever dream, I bought my first automatic watch last February for my birthday, an Orient Kamasu. Since then I’ve purchased five more watches. My family thinks I’m a lunatic now, as I’m usually a reasonable, frugal guy. I have a 13 year old car and some clothes in my closet are from the nineties.

I’m still not sure how it all happened to be honest. All I know is I like how they make me feel and it’s a joy to pick up a different watch every couple of days. For now I’m done, I’m going to enjoy what I have. That’s it, I’m glad to be here with all of you watch nerds.

Welcome to a bunch of addiction enablers…lol. This is a great group. Lots of amazing watch porn on here. Great collection!

·

Off to a great start! Your story is normal here 😉

Some great watches there. Now that you're starting to amass a number of them, I'm sure you have a feel for what's working for you, and maybe what doesn't get worn so much? Don't be afraid to sell-on the watches that haven't hit the mark, and re-invest in styles that bring you joy. It's the best way to having a collection you love, and not a watchbox with numerous items you find you aren't wearing.

Greetings Chas , I do not joke when I say that you have to be careful because it is a very addictive hobby, buy sensibly and not on impulse, your tastes will probably change and enjoy this beautiful hobby but I repeat buy sensibly and think twice.Oh and welcome. Thank you very much and greetings

I appreciate the advice and yes it’s a slippery slope I’ve come to find out. I’ve definitely applied the brakes, no more buying for 2023. I’ve set some new ground rules for myself going forward.
