Share Your Wedding Watch

This is my Seiko ultra-thin quartz dress watch purchased in 1986 by my in-laws for my wedding. I have since worn it at my daughter’s wedding and my son’s wedding. I guess I’ll be wearing it when my youngest daughter eventually gets married.

Why is it that we attach sentiment like that to a watch? It’s not the most expensive watch in my collection. It’s not even the dressiest. What is it about watches that make them special?

Let’s see you wedding watch and any other special occasion watch.

Got this 2 toned Datejust as a wedding present from the in-laws and wore it at my wedding in the early 90s (sign of how times have changed, they got a 25% discount on the watch). Still a great watch but I need to find the extra links (don't know where the box with the spare links went) because my wrist grew in the last 30 years.

Beautiful watch! Have the current model and wear it every day!

Well, that was 52 years ago…and I lost it, anyway.

Do you remember what it was? I’m about to celebrate the 37th anniversary of our engagement (on St Patrick’s Day). I think that calls for a new watch! 😂

Wow! I wonder if we have the same taste in spouses! 😂

Didn’t care much for dress watches until recently, so I pulled a James Bond, and wore my Steinhart Ocean One. It was my nicest watch at the time and I remember being proud of the “Swiss Made” on the dial, felt special 😊. Not so much into homages anymore, but that’ll always be a meaningful part of my collection.

Yeah, it was a Zenith GMT on a bracelet. Being Irish I congratulate you on scheduling an event on that most grand and glorious day, and you definitely deserve a new watch…with a green dial.🍻

Still have it after 20 years or is it 21 oh well don’t tell my wife lol…

My JLC Master Control was a gift from my parents for graduating law school in 2011 (the OEM bracelet for it came as my gift the following year for earning my LL.M. (Master of Laws) in Taxation in 2012). I got married in this watch in July 2014 and still wear it on most dress occasions, including any time I have to go to Court in person, which means it was my work daily until the pandemic. Now that things have transitioned mostly to Zoom, I don’t have the occasion to wear it nearly as often.

I wore the only real watch I had at the time, a Victorinox Military Heritage Chronograph quartz. I’ve had it since about 2009 and wore it in Afghanistan with me, so I guess it fit since I wore my Air Force Mess Dress. But I’m way more into watches now so I wish I would have bought a dress watch for that occasion.

I was very close to my Grandad and vividly remember him winding this and wearing it every day. When his dementia took hold my mum swapped this for a cheap Timex to prevent him losing or damaging it. I wasnt aware at the time that she had sent it to be sympathetically overhauled, with my Grandmas blessing, to be given to me.

My Grandad died before my wedding day but I was given this on the morning and wore it throughout. It means a lot to me but I dont wear it often.

Was your wife a doppleganger of Jamie Lee Curtis in the late '80s? 😎

Nope.

Great story attached to that watch

My Seiko Alpinist. I bought it specifically for my wedding, but I now wear this watch most days on a nato strap.

Wow! You can be a hand model for the company with that photo! 😂

I wore a Romanson automatic which I had picked up on holidays from a small shop in Croatia just because I liked the look of it.

A yacht master on a yacht in the Mediterranean! How cool is that!

Had to be done!

The first Cartier! I’d wear that every day.

I would! The only thing is I feel it's a bit too ... precious for everyday wear unfortunately 😔

Pardon the hairy wrist haha

That’s a really nice watch! Perfect for court. Not too flashy, but those who know, know.

Thank you!

I wore my Breitling chrono Superocean for both my children’s weddings, for my wedding it was a Colibri black and gold quartz tank style watch (1984!) that my wife had brought for me previously

I don't wear them with their stainless steel bracelets during the winter, but I plan on going back to them in the summer.

These are nice! You seemed to have followed in your father’s footsteps.
