WatchCrunch Marketplace?

Suggesting a possible Buy/Sell/Trade marketplace on WatchCrunch? Thoughts?

In my situation I have a lot of watches that I would love to be able to sell or trade but I don't want to become an eBay, seller etc. If not on WatchCrunch, any suggestions to possibly sell some of my collections so I can get my Grail watch? I'm a boomer so technology or complicated is not on my side.

What about chrono24?

I would vote no to having a market place here , the place will get flooded with people only interested in selling.

IMHO Ebay is your best bet to move on the affordable watches.

I feel that my watch collection isn't suitable for chrono24, not luxurious enough? My insecurities coming out

Agreed. There would be a lot of sellers, however sellers need buyers and I believe there may be some buyers traders on this forum. Appreciate the input.

No, don’t want conflicts to happen here

·

Yes that would be the tricky part because absolutely they would be conflicts and accountability issues but thought I would bring up the topic as a conversation point.

On one hand, it would be cool to have a dedicated marketplace on here. Like others said, though, I think it would ultimately be bad for the site. Just look at what Hodinkee has become. Granted, it’s not a 1/1 comparison, but I feel like the sentiment stands.

Disputes should be resolved by a tribunal with Fast and Furious rules, loser gives up their car too.

Major disputes, yes (I may give them my Kia just to get it the hell out of my life). Minor disputes should be settled using trial by combat, with both parties wielding socks filled with manure.

Buying and selling has never really gotten traction here with the big exception of the occasional charitable auction which seems to work out pretty well consistently. But if you're selling for your grail, I would definitely figure out eBay or build reddit r/watches reputation. It's probably the least painful way to go about it.

Appreciate the advice Edge168.
