And so after a few gloomy rainy days the sun is back again. It's time to get the Bulova Accutron II out since it's big and black and covered with glass, which makes it look like a solar panel. Maybe I can hook it to my water heater and save some cash.
The black PVD coating on the case and the reflective glass created a bit of a challenge here and I had to play for quite some time with angles and rotating the polarizing filter to catch the glitter of the glass and bracelet without crushing the black and losing details.
Still, not a complete success because I could not get rid completely of the reflections from the crystal (which is enormous), and from the bracelet.
I realized that there are very few video showing how smooth the second's hand of an Accutron II is. The few I found online were very old and not very good IMO, so below is my modest contribution to YT.
And now all that is left for me to do is strap the large Lobster on my wrist and finish my coffee. Cheers!
I'm a big fan of watches that are interesting because they are either unique, have interesting features, well designed or simply offer a great value for their price.
Is it super high beat or does it have Spring Drive similarities in the construction?
Gonna Google that.

Neither, it's a 262 kHz frequency quartz watch but the frequency has nothing to do with the sweeping hand. The large case is simply allowing a larger battery which can power the hand motor 8 or 16 ticks per second instead of the the usual 1 tick per second.
Love that high frequency quartz sweep. Very yummylicious.
That’s smoooooth, baby! 😊👌

I often commented that the quartz movements that Bulova use for their Accutron II/Precisionist watches have the smoothest second's hand this side of a GS Spring Drive.
Good looking big boy! Nice shots! Brave to do them in full sun. You are right about the reflections and the size. Still I like the smooth sweep. Here’s mine
Love that Bulova! Enjoy that watch!
