Pushing it up to 11 with the SKXMOD AE1200

I'm taking a break from my usual rotation to return to the SKXMOD AE1200 on its red merlot leather strap. The AE1200 is a fine watch and the SKXMOD kit with the Vario strap were significant upgrades, but now it's time to bring it up to 11.

So this morning I decided to fill up on coffee from my VU meter mug, that does bring everything up to 11. I bought this cup a few years ago when I was upgrading the main HiFi setup and one of the thing that I always liked on audio kits are VU meters. They are like cats - they make everything better.

Encased and kitted with the best that the 21st century has to offer, the AE1200 is now unbeatable as an 80's retro styled digital watch.

It's so cool that it's really no wonder I decided to strap it again on my wrist and I'm delighted to see that my decision to keep all the gaudy text adorning the face plate and case was the right one (for me). I think that this clutter is just part of the text overload that was common in car design and HiFi equipment during the 80's and is therefore something that should be left as is.

Love the color scheme you went for with this. I have a modded Olive drab Royale that I wear around the house on the weekends.

I decided that if I wanted to experience again the 80's then I should go all in and opt for the gold and black. I'm not sorry at all that I did it.

Damn it, I’m trying not to buy another $150 as-1200, and you’re not helping. Nice watch though.

I do help, a lot. I'm just helping you see the futility of your resistance.
