My first time using an overhead camera mount resulted in a fail. The mount works very well and is able to hold the camera stationary and at a perfect angle, but...
But the sun and the Nomos sapphire crystal decided that today was not going to be the day of catching the dial without reflections. It's almost comical how I managed to catch an almost perfect reflection of the camera setup.
Well, there will be other days and more opportunities to experiment, after all it's not like my livelihood depends on my lackluster photography skills.
And the Ahoi neomatik with its "siren red" dial (looks more like clementine orange to me, but nobody at Nomos asked for my input) is cheerfully brightening my day, so I really have no reasons to complain.
I'm a big fan of watches that are interesting because they are either unique, have interesting features, well designed or simply offer a great value for their price.
I hate having to buy stuff, but a couple bucks worth of foam board from the local art supply store really helps with this problem. I also hate to acknowledge Hodinkee whatsoever, but this article was actually helpful on the matter.

The black foam sounds like an actual useful tip, but reading the article photography started to sound like real work, of which I already have enough.
I try to stop and admire something beautiful every day. That yellow seconds hand against the orange dial will do.

Was going to suggest this.^
If it's any consolation, I've had the exact thing happen with my setup as well. If you can find a black cloth (shirts, jackets, tarps) to set up over your camera, I've done that before and its worked really well to mask your camera's reflection

Thanks for sharing this.
Love the watch! Orangerageous color!
Dovetailing on @OscarKlosoff's comment, you can simply use anything near you (throw pillow, folder, notebook, etc.) to block any glare causing light. I sometimes even use my hand(s) depending on how much glare is seen on the crystal.

My useless cat is black. Maybe I can finally find something useful to do with him instead of letting him sunbath and soak up the sunshine, I just need to squish him a bit to make it flatter.
