My name is...Ooops wrong movie.
The Casio AE1200 probably got it's nickname of Casio Royale as a reference to a watch worn by James Bond in a movie in which it doesn't make an appearance. It would have been quite a feat if it did - as quartz watches weren't even invented yet when the first movie was shot in 1967, and therefore David Niven had to make some compromises and wear a Rolex. The one which did look like the AE1200 was made by Seiko and appeared in Octopussy many years later.
The Casio AE1200 does look a lot like the Seiko worn by Roger Moore but I seriously doubt if its plastic shell can survive the action and stunts that seems to follow a civil servant whose job is to simplify the life of Her Majesty. I don't know if Q knows about SKXMOD but I certainly do, and this is why I decided to turn a 15$ disposable plastic watch into something which is definitively not.
The SKXMOD kit I selected included the black coated steel case and bracelet and I decided to go for the full gold & black experience because, why not. The Merlot red Vario strap is another obvious upgrade that is needed In the unlikely event that I may be invited to a a high stake game in a fancy Casino. The result is a heavy and sturdy 80's looking retro-watch that is protected by the best the third decade of the 21st century has to offer.
And so for today my name is Mod, Casio Mod.

My issue with Casio digital watches has always been the excessive amount of wasted space on the dial.
Sure a world map is cool, but a larger display of the actual time would be cooler...
I agree, I've never really understood why everyone calls it the Casio Royale apart from the fact it sounds a bit like Casino, I guess the Casio Pussy doesn't have the same ring to it?

Vario straps for the AE1200 are truly excellent. I had a hard time deciding which one of them would suit me the best.

It does have a ring but it sounds more like the notification ring from the legal counsel.

Nice looking watch. I'm trying out the bronze skxmod case using the module from a Casio DW-291H-9AVCF whose LCD screen has a bit of a copper-like hue. I like it so far, but I think it's far from done changing color.
