In favor of complicated dials
Perception is everything. My Glycine Airman isn't particularly pretty or expensive looking and yet, it's the only watch that gets any attention when I wear it.
It's all about its dial with the 24Hr track and the dual crowns. It looks unusual and unusual things get noticed.
My Airman is the 40mm GL0162 which was sold exclusively through Massdrop (now just Drop) and was at the time the closest I could find to the original Airman No. 1 at a reasonable price.
There was also a 36mm version offered but I think it was only available with a white dial, which is why I bought the 40mm.
It's a good approximation too. The acrylic crystal looks authentic, the strap is exactly what's right for the 60-70's look and the design is spot on. Unfortunately so is the WR which is kept to a no less authentic zero. That's right, my Airman has a 1Atm WR rating which means I 'm afraid to even sneeze when it's on my wrist.
And it wears very well on the wrist because of its thinness and supple strap. It's one of my watches that I simply forget once it's on my wrist. I just wish it had a slightly better WR rating.

I'm a big fan of watches that are interesting because they are either unique, have interesting features, well designed or simply offer a great value for their price.

Gotta love a good Glycine Airman! I went with the DC-4 for greater legibility, sapphire and 200M WR rating.
Yep. If I had the courage I would paint the GMT hand to make it stand out because it's too easily confused with the minute's hand.

love my dc4 airman too, 42mm is a little too big but sapphire crystal and 200wr is hard to resist. i saw one of the @PeterKotsa video when he painted the gmt hand red. i want to try but also dont have courage hehe
it definitely hard choice to choose between 24 or 12 hour marker. but in the end i choose 12 hour marker because it is not too crowded, got the gmt movement sw330 as a variation in my watch collection, sapphire, and better wr, however i think 42mm is a little too big but i can live with that

Well, great looking doesn't necessarily means pretty IMO and for me this is the case with the Airman No. 1. YMMV of course.
