I'm not smart enough for my ProTrek

My PRG-510GB is with me for a long time. Smartwatches and GPS were not very common when I bought it and it was used extensively for hiking and camping because I needed something that was rugged enough to withstand the outdoors and which had more functions than my G-Shock.

It's still in perfect working conditions, despite the scratches, wear and dings it suffered. The bezel rim is slightly bent, the PVD coating on the case is wearing off and the hybrid fabric strap that is fraying, but the solar cells are still charging the capacitor which is still able to hold a charge for a long time. The PRG-510GB was never serviced and having a CASIO quartz movement it's precise and will continue to be so long after I'll pass away.

As this morning has plenty of sunshine, I got it out to soak the light and decided that I'll play a bit with its functions before strapping it on my wrist, and it has plenty of functions to play with. There are 3 sensors bulking the already ginormous case, and they are supposed to provide me with plenty of barely useful information such as temperature, barometric pressure, elevation, a compass and it's even a world timer. All this can be mine if only I can manage to recalibrate the sensors.

And I can't. By the time I finish reading the instructions I'm already at the stage where I forgot which button does what and what is the correct sequence to press them. I already struggled to change the time when DST ended and clearly anything more complex is beyond my intellect. This watch was created in an era where functions were piled without regards for ergonomics and it requires a genius to figure out how to operate it correctly. I'm just too stupid for my watch.

Therefore I settled on letting it charge while I try to take some photos, which is not as easy as it sounds because of the small digital LCD display and the glass crystal. I found that I can either capture a legible display or a clear and reflection free dial, but not both at the same time.

So in the end I decided to do the responsible thing and just strap it on my wrist.
