Oh, yeah, Marc is open about Islander starting as an unabashed homage brand, even if their more recent releases are more original in design. I am a huge fan of the brand. You get a solidly built watch at a good price, and their customer service is excellent.

I just bought my third Islander. It’s a solid brand and offers great value for money. Also, if there’s any sort of problem with the watch, you can be sure Marc will make it right.
But yes, what @SpecKTator said. If you like it, buy it. A bunch of weirdo chucklefucks* on a watch forum can (and will) give their opinions all day long, but yours is the only one that matters. I feel like it can be easy to forget that (I certainly do sometimes).

I just bought the “Ghost” Bayport and was looking at getting that same style of white rubber strap as an alternate. 👌
