Purchase List of Watches for 2022

So, here is my list of watches I will be looking to add to my collection in 2022

1.      Casio Oceanus OCW-T150-2AJF, or perhaps the OCW-T200SLE-2AJR- I would prefer the ice blue dial of the T150 over the deeper blue of the T200, but I am adding an Oceanus to my collection this year.

2.      Casio G Shock GMWB5000G-1- I have a GMWB5000-1, but I have come to realize that I would prefer a black G Shock over a stainless steel one. If I can get a GMWB5000G-1, I will either sell my GMWB5000-1 or gift it to a family member who appreciates watches.

3.      Axios Flagship- Miyota 9000 series movement in a beautiful dive watch with a BOR bracelet.

4.      Phoibos Nebula- Miyota 9000 series movement in a watch that has a dive watch aesthetic but is not a dive watch, similar in appearance to the Seiko 5 SRPE.

5.      Hemel Sea Dart- Again, Miyota 9000 series movement in a nice dive watch with a stainless-steel unidirectional bezel.

6.      Seiko SRPH- This is the just released updated SNK. I saw this after I had posted my list, so this is the first change. Added

7.      Bulova Devil Diver- Again, I am debating this one, but it is more likely than the Mil-Ships, as I have seen this for around $300 already this year. Still a lot for a watch with a Miyota 8000 series movement, but much more reasonable than the close to $800 MSRP. Changed from the A15. Ordered. Yet another watch for my Bulova Archive Series.

8.      Seiko 5 SNKL23- I gave my grandson my SNK809 a few years ago and have wanted to replace it with an SNKL23 for a while. I figured I had better do it this year, so it is already ordered.

9.      Islander #ISL-HMBT-1- (pre-ordered and paid for in full) I participated in the voting for this one and wanted to get one when they came out, so I included it in my watch list for this year.

My new Bulova Computron is not a part of this list, as it was a part of my list for 2021, which was all Islanders and budget watches except for the Computron. 😀 My list from 2020 was more varied.

I still haven’t made a final decision on which list I will be trying to follow, but my prediction is that I will follow the first version. I have made the second version of my list every year, and I have wound up following the first version every year to date. 🤣

Edit: I have already run across a new release so I am changing the list already. It didn't even make it a full day! 🤣 Below will be the list of watches removed starting with the Bulova Mil-Ships.

  1.    Bulova Mil-Ships- I included this one on my list, but honestly, I am debating it and will be searching for a good deal in this coming year, or I probably won’t get it. I have difficulty paying over $500 for any watch with a Miyota movement, and that is even true for the new 9000 series. Removed and replaced by the Seiko SRPH. I may add this one back in next year.
  2. Bulova A15 Pilot-Removed and replaced by the Bulova Devil Diver. I may add this one back in again next year.
  3.       Grand Seiko Spring Drive (any spring drive)- This would actually be the only other watch on my list if I do decide to make that investment. The Casio, Times, and AliExpress budget slots are just because I know myself, and three watches in one year will not be nearly enough to scratch the itch. In fact, I should probably add the Casio, Timex, and AliExpress slots to the other version of my list as well. 😂 Removed yet again! I made the decision when I found a Devil Diver for about $260 and purchased it.

Clearly a man on a mission! 🎯💪

Aaaand I already just saw a watch I want to add! 🤣 I just saw a video by The Time Teller on the new Seiko 5 SRPHs, which are the updated versions of the SNKs. I will probably add one of these and remove the Mil-Ships. Wow! It didn't even make it a full day before I though about changing it.

7.      AliExpress budget

Now that is the wildcard in my own budget. I have no idea what to build next, and I don't want to build something for the pure sake of it. Normally it starts with a dial that intrigues me, and I work my way backwards. (This is not strictly Aliexpress, TokeiLab  or Namoki fall into the same budget.)

Just so hard to predict.

The Axios Flagship and Phoibos are on my radar also but likely not this year. I think this year will be a purge year more than a buy year for me. I have a 5 or 6 watches that I received as gifts taking up room and a couple AliExpress purchases that I never wear. The gift watches are more fashion watches so may be hard to sell. Likely throw them up on eBay in a month or so and see what happens.

I did order a Beaufort Aerotimer https://www.beaufort-watches.com/products/aerotimer-white

Someone posted the G-Shock DW6900 a couple days ago which fired up a lot of nostalgia for me so I think I'm going to order the solar version GW6900 as its listed on Amazon Canada for over 20% off right now.

I am on the wait list for a Helm Watch but am #2404 on the list right now so I don't think that's going to happen this year. https://helmwatches.com/vanuatu.html

If a Zelos gets released that speaks to me, I see a Arnie on sale, or I find a good deal on a Squale 1521 Blue Dial I would also pull out the wallet.

As a Canadian with an interest in History I do want the Intrepid Diver by Whitby (in Red and Gray). https://whitbywatchco.com/collections/all-whitby-watch-co-watches/products/intrepid-diver-blk-rd.  Problem is I'm fairly certain it's to much watch for my 7" wrist but still if that Red and Gray version becomes available I would be very tempted.

Thats quite a plan, while in the grand scheme of things... if i were you, I would head straight for a springdrive first. As its very likely that it might disturb your arrangement a little / a lot 🙌🏼

That is a good list! I am interested in a Zelos and a Helm at some point, but those are watches that I will try for in a later year. I am not familiar with Beaufort but the watch looks interesting. Have you looked at Vanbanner watches? It is another Canadian microbrand that looks interesting. All sold out right now, but I am keeping an eye on them for a future year.

As I just ordered the Devil Diver on the first version, the second version of my list has been discarded, and the spring drive have to wait for another year. Same thing that I seem to do every year! 🤣

I think I saw a review for a Vanbanner Parking Watch looked interesting, The other big Canadian micro brand is Halios but they seem next to impossible to purchase. Then there’s Marathon but I don’t like their watches enough to pay the $$$ they cost.

I always did think the Bulova Devil Diver was an interesting one for sure! I only “plan“on getting one watch this year, again plan😅. & Thats going to be a Rolex Datejust. might end up being early next year depending on how money is, but we’ll see🤞🏽

I’m a loose cannon, an impulse buyer, I’m the type who goes out for a toilet seat and comes back with a BMW M Sport, I want about 30% of almost every watch I see. Doesn’t matter how many times I try and stop, Mr Jeckyl comes out. I have a cull once a year, then I start again, I wish I had more than two arms, or it becomes fashionable to wear on each wrist. Ive got to take my medication now……..
