New Impulse Buy: Armitron Griffy

Here is a recent impulse buy that just arrived today in the mail; my new Armitron Griffy. I went with the gold on this one as it reminds me of the Armitron my father had in the '70s, although the numbers on the display were much smaller and crisper on his than it is on this reissue. The mumbers are larger, but as you can see, they are somewhat blurry, especially when compared with the numbers on my Bulova Computron. It also feels somewhat flimsy, like it is a brass alloy case similar to most metal Timex watches rather than steel. Also, this bracelet will give the Timex Q series bracelets a serious run for the money pulling the hair from your arm. It is much worse than the bracelets on a Casio A168W. Still, for $35 I am not going to complain too much, and it is a fun blast from the past, evoking that same feeling of nostalgia I get wearing my Computron. For anyone wanting a budget vintage LED watch, this might be a good option.

I've looked at those in the past and might join the club. Nice choice.

Hard to go wrong for Casio/Timex money. Not sure I would pay the MSRP of $60 for one.

Do they come in steel?

EDIT: I suppose I could look this up myself and not be a lazy POS. 🤷‍♂️

I have seen steel and black in addition to gold, and there are several colors for the display as well; again, I have seen blue and green in addition to red.

I kinda like the black/red.

Reminds me a little of my Texas Instruments LED.
