At some point I'm going to do a full review of both of these watches, the Vertex M100A and the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic 3.6.9. The resurrection of these two companies and the reinvention/reissue of these two field-adventure timepieces is amazing to me. One a WWII "dirty dozen" piece and the other from the Byrd Antarctic expeditions. I haven't taken them off in the month or so I've owned both and basically swap back and forth during the day. I never keep anything on the purchased straps, no matter how good of quality and look they are. Here's my standard go-to WatchGecko sailcloth and rubber respectively. What can I say, watch straps allow the wearer to define the watch a bit more for themselves and their personality. Chef's kiss for both of these pieces that have edged out all of my collection for the last weeks.

I very much like the period advertising for the Nivada Grenchen: "For Versatile Men Only." I am familiar with Vertex (I have the M100) but this post is my introduction to the Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic 3.6.9 which I see is sold out ... for which my wallet thanks you.
These are broth great looking watches. Enjoy them!

Not only do I like their advertising, I like that their packaging is both unique and small-ish. Goodness, I'm so tired of huge boxes for no effective reason (unless your Longines or Tissot putting in a small library). The Vertex in its custom Pelican-style case is a bit robust, but super cool. The Nivada is an outer mail packaging and the inner box is subtly padded but 4" x 4" approx. No more, no less.
Great strap choices for a smaller case.
I see why!
you always make great choices with the straps

Thanks! If all I can add to the costume is the choice of the wrist belt, I'm gonna do that. Hopefully with a bit of decent aesthetic.

I wonder if those guys knew what "versatile" was going to mean now...

It means something different now?

Well, no thanks for adding that to my knowledge base.

The Nivada Grenchen watch looks amazing! They both do. They posted about releasing a 36mm version without the faux-tina, which I probably will end up buying!

Weren't they referred to in the old days as "permanent bachelors"?
Vertex all the way
Watched the vertex CEO on watch geckos YouTube the other day and he confirmed that a 36 mm vertex is in the works but he didn't put out a timeline. I'm assuming 2024 or 2025. And that's as long as I'm going to hold out on waiting for one. If not I'm getting another field watch with lumed numerals
Love the Vertex
So cool. The Nivada is, IMHO, an absolutely perfect Explorer samtand in with legitimate history for thousands left.
The Vertex is an excellent recreation of a Dirty Dozen watch from an original Dirty Dozen brand
