It's here! Long Island Watch Manhasset 36mm automatic

Long Island Watch team continues to excel with this new 36mm Manhasset. Looks a lot like the Explorer ran into a vintage Rolex ref 14000 Air King. I've always loved those old Rolex salmon pink dials. More pictures and review to follow. I featured it next to my Air King ref 116900 just to compare. Intro from Mark Frankel here for more details: https://youtu.be/J1k1mq3DVhg

Looks nice. I’d be interested to read your review. I’m tempted by the Manhasset, but also want to see what this upcoming Islander Amerigraph chronograph is all about first.

I can see the conflict. Thankfully I'm all chronoed up so this was an easy (impulsive) decision to make.

The dial looks nice, but the hands aren't "substantial" enough for me. I get what they are going for though. Will be interested to see what other 36mm watches they create in the future.

Any updates to this? I’m interested in picking up the black one.

Long and the short; the watch fit, finish, function, and bracelet are awesome. A joy to wear and really has that classic Rolex Air King feel. The bad, the salmon colored hands on the salmon dial don't have enough contrast. Very hard to read. The lume is acceptable.

Thanks! I was interested in the black version, so I’m glad to know that the quality is there. Is the lume only on the 3/6/9/12?

The black dial is on the banner at Long Island Watch with lume shots.

I would give this one 8.5 out 10. The size and fit are great (7” wrist). Looks awesome. 3 things that I wish were a bit better:

  1. The hands are bit too simple. Not necessarily looking for Mercedes hands but something more interesting would have been more desirable for me.

  2. I wished they had lumed all the markers instead of just the numbers.

  3. The movement with the dead crown position (day of week) I’m not crazy about. Feels a bit clumsy and takes getting used to.

1 and 2 are more subjective so probably not a big deal. #3 is the only thing that might stop me from buying another one.

Overall, great bang for the buck and love wearing it. Definitely scratching the itch while I ponder whether to get the Explorer 36.
