A biased review of a big shiny g shock

"That is so Kanye." A coworker on seeing this watch.

"Ludicrous. Ludicrous!" My friend. 

"Es ese reloj?!" Both of my parents at separate times. An okay translation is, "what's up with that watch?" But the original is said with a bit of incredulousness. 

"What the hell am I even looking at?" A different coworker when I handed it over so he could take a closer look.

I got this on sale for like $70 bucks as a new years gift for myself last year, mainly because it looked outrageous. The more sober colorways of the GD-100s are lauded for their durability and function, of course this version has that, but it looks like something that would summon a mech/zord/giant robo/what have you if you press the right combination of buttons. I really like that the super shiny gold face is totally the same shiny chromed plastic I would see on the dopest imported Japanese toys when I'd go to comic conventions. Plus like all my g shocks, this one is cyberpunk. I kinda wish the display was reversed, with black info on gold screen, but whatever. I'm not going to list all the features, but the watch has a ton. What it doesn't have is multiband 6 or solar charging, but for the price I got it for, not a big deal. Like all of my g shocks I wear this to work, around the house, and going out whether to get some groceries or to a concert. The shiny band and bezel have somehow resisted any major scratches until quite recently, which probably happened when I smacked into something which is hard not to do considering this thing is CHONKY. Because of the finish and size this watch gets noticed a lot, mainly by people who notice watches,  but more often than other watches I own by normal people as well, so look elsewhere for subtlety. (My usual response is, "thanks, it's a casio!") Luckily I tend to dress with some more daring than most so it fits with my usual outfits. I've yet to see a nickname for this watch, I call it The Keaton as it reminds me of the color scheme to the 1989 Batsuit.
