WC suggestions for my wife’s collection

My wife and I both jumped into the world of watches this past summer…we’re looking for some Crunch expert opinions on where to go next…the plan is to most likely add a Cartier Tank and a vintage DateJust at a later date…in the meantime whadayathink?

SOTC to date…

Top Row:  Oris Big Crown Pointer, Omega Seamaster Cosmic 166.026, Tissot Seastar 36mm, Tissot PRX 35mm, Seiko SSC813

Image

Bottom Row: Seiko Pressage SRP839, Alpina Comtesse Sport, Baby G-shock, Coach Fashion Watch, Movado Fashion Watch

Tank, DJ, call it a day.

·

@thekris makes sense. Why force yourself into something “lesser” to tide you over? That said, if the Tank and the DJ are more notional and you want to get her a watch to actually wear now, FWIW I bought my wife a Junghans Max Bill. She has a very streamlined style and it suited her well.

·

Unless she has a super strong opinion about them, the Tank is one of those rare watches that looks good on pretty much anyone who wears it: lady, gentleman, nonbinary.  If you and your wife are similar sizes, then it can pull double duty incredibly well.

😂  those are on the list...she loves both

we're not similar sizes...but a his/hers is not out of the question

·

I think don't force it.

Have the plan for the tank and DJ and only add to the collection in the meantime if she happens across something that she falls in love with.

got an upcoming Watch Show in DC...never know may see something there

·

I say save and purchase both. Is she interested in another watch? Maybe a diver, chrono? What's out budget?

I see that, I meant that you have things pretty well covered.  I'd get those two and just sit back and relax.  I'm sure inspiration will come to you.

Not sure your price point but there’s a Cartier that my wife fell in love with recently…

https://www.cartier.com/en-us/watches/collections/ballon-de-cartier/ballon-blanc-de-cartier-watch-CRW4BL0002.html

Comes in 26 and 30mm size, and a great one watch collection type of piece for her. Might be over budget and if so, a medium or large Tank is a no brainer if she’s into rectangular watches.

That's the plan...she likes the Hamilton Intra Matic Chrono (believe it is a rose color) but need to get hands on with it being 40mm...may be too large

Very nice watch but I she wants a Tank...which one TBD...maybe a solarbeat

Awesome collection! Really hard to beat a Tank and Datejust. On the more affordable side, I would say that Certina and Hamilton have some fun watches to check out. Frederick Constant and Longines have some pretty neat stuff a little further up market from there.

The 34mm Longines Master Collection Moonphase is one that I am really drawn to.

Certina is a good suggestion…they actually have a good selection of women’s watches…almost bought a DS myself…we need to look at FC…and Longines Legend Diver is definitely on her radar…will suggest the moonphase thanks!

A Baltic MR01. I tried to buy one from @HotWatchChick69's charity auction but was outbid 😭

The website is sold out but plenty of options on Chrono24.

Your wife needs a WatchCrunch account so we can discuss watches :)

Speed master 57 or reduced. Assuming she wouldn’t wear a 42 regular speedy pro.

Hamilton Intra Matic Chrono is a beautiful watch. I just met with my clients husband and wife.  Both had Daytonas on white and black dial. It was very cool. I digress.  How about something different in 36mm? Marathon Artic MSAR auto. Won't break the bank. The two women I have seen in the wild wearing this watch loved them. Tough as nails, understated and different.  Marathon puts these watches on sale once a quarter 20% Can't say enough good things about this watch. Doesn't wear top heavy. Lots of no. Watch nerds inquire about it. I have the GSAR black dial

·

Don’t think Daytonas are in our future 😂. I love the GSAR but my wife would pass on that one…good suggestion though

If she likes Cartier, maybe something a bit less common, such as the Pasha?

Not familiar with that one...she put a Tank on this past weekend and loved it so I think as far as Cartiers go that would be the choice

The Tank is certainly the more popular choice, as it's iconic even outside of the watch community. I picked up my Pasha because I thought it was interesting and unique. The fact that it's a Gerald Genta design didn't hurt either.

I've been collecting for about 4 years, and only really discovered Cartier about a year and a half ago. If you're new to watches, and not familiar with their offerings, you may also want to check out the Santos. It was the model that brought Cartier to my attention. I like Cartier mostly because they offer something that looks significantly different to the "norm".

We’re both new to collecting but catching up quickly with all the information available…discovering Cartier’s rich history along with their  classic designs it’s easy to see why they’re coveted…familiar with the Santos…agree they stand out next to all the others

If you want to add something that nobody else will have, Panzera has just launched its first ladies line of watches.

Swiss Ronda Quartz with Swarovski crystals in a 36mm case and a number of dial colour options.

Its no Cartier, but you’re unlikely to find anyone else wearing one!
