I have owned and Orient near the beginning of my watch journey and found that it does not measure up to similar Seiko counter parts.
As many have already point out, Seiko prices are getting up there now. So I can see someone getting an Orient instead to save a few bucks, but you would definitely be giving something up compared to a Seiko.
Crazy that I've actually thought about this. It would be my GS White Birch Spring Drive. My thinking is the SD movement is going to outlast any battery (even solar rechargeable ones) and I can't think of a more accurate watch that doesn't have a battery. It's antimagnetic, and tough enough to survive anything that I can survive. The nature theme of the watch will also be a subtle reminder of those better days in the distant past.
