So much fun at the Wind-Up and WatchTime events!

This weekend was my first time ever visiting a watch fair/event. I made my way up from Baltimore, MD to NYC to make the events, and of course the WatchCrunch meetup!!  Met many great people and watches, and learned so much in such a short amount of time. I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity.

I wanted to share some pics I snapped over the weekend. I absolutely plan to make this an annual trip.

The Czapek Passage De Drake was one of my favorite pieces.  The dial has to be seen IRL to be fully appreciated.

I spent so much time with the folks at A Lange Sohne I thought they might have escorted me out at some point. But they were lovely people.

By far I spent the most time at the RGM booth learning about their dial making process. Just amazing stuff.

Just so many amazing watches and people. And the Microbrands at WindUp were so cool. My favorite was Oak and Oscar.

Cant wait until next year!!

Wow, that looks like an awesome event.

While I have attended years past, I just didn't feel like getting on a plane.  I'm sure it would have been worth the trip though.

Being able to hop on a train and get there in less than 3 hours made it a pretty easy trip.

·

Glad to hear it was a good time 😊

Thanks! Great shots of interesting stuff. Were those turning engines part of the AL&S display?

Wow! Thanks for posting all the fantastic photos. Looks like a great event.

No, that was from RGM. They are in Pennsylvania.

Thank, I think RGM looks like an interesting microbrand, they are just a couple of hours away from me. I need to get there some time.

So glad that we got to meet you and spend some time with you at the show.  If you're going to make the pilgrimage again next year we will certainly look forward to doing it all again.

It would have been great to meet you in person!  I combined it with a visit with my sons in Brooklyn, and we all had a great time.  Meeting the people at the WC meet up was definitely the highlight.

If I hit the big lottery tonight I am going to charter an Airbus from @JesseJ's company and have him pick up every WatchCruncher in the US and Europe while I have another crew fly everyone from Asia and Australia to the next meetup.

Likewise, I know many people there.  It's just not much fun to travel anymore, at least for me.

Next WC meetup?

That’s a good idea! I’d be up for it.

My fee is a A. Lange or RGM watch haha

Plus shots after flying!

I went too! So much fun! Worn and wound did a great job! But it looks like some of your pics was at the other fair at Gotham Hall that had the higher end brands. Did you go to both? How did they compare?

I did go to both. They were both great, but they have very different feels/energy. WindUp was much more laid back. Everyone at WatchTime was super nice, but it didn’t HCA her same bazaar/fair feel as WindUp. That said, I totally geeked out at many of the brands at WatchTime.

I would have loved to have been there!

I'm definitely making the trip across one of these times if I get enough notice.

Here is your 359 day advanced notice 😁

Still haven’t made it to a Windup yet but one day hopefully soon! Would love to check it out and I’d also love to buy the O&O fellas a drink!

You should! They are at all 3 fairs. NY is closest to me so that’s the one I plan to hit every year.

Is the Wind-Up and WatchTime event an annual occurrence in NYC? If so did you end up going again this year?

It is, but I missed this year because of work. Will be going next year for sure though!

Rob maybe we should suggest the meetup group setup a tour of RGM and the National Watch and Clock museum.

I think that would be a very good Springtime trip. Let’s talk to the group. We could also post here to possibly get some other WCers to join.

I agree, we should also reach out to RGM to see how big of a group they would be OK with as the shop is small and I think by appointment, at least it was when I went but that was the end of the Covid era so it may not be the norm.
