Been collecting watches off and on since 1990. Love the German 3/4 plate watches and other “manufacture calibers”. A steel case with a beautiful movement is a sweet spot for me.

CV-40 was the USS Tarawa light carrier. Wood decks and lack of ability to touch and go were hallmarks of that period.
Amazing photos! Your dad looked very sharp in uniform. My grandfather also severed in both WW2 and Korea. Brave men. They truly were the greatest generation. Do you still have the Rolex?
