Anyone have a watch they really shouldn’t like but do?

After over 4 years of being a fairly active collector I feel like I know myself and what I like a fair bit. I like smaller watches, it definitely needs to be thin (or at least wear very thin like my Oris 65), when in doubt I prefer a no-date, i much prefer female (inverted) end links. I am looking at selling my two current dive watches (the O65 and a Ginault Ocean Rover) to get one nice diver. Based off my preference I know the Tudor BB58 is perfect for me.

And yet for some reason I am really tempted by the Seiko SLA049. It is 49mm, fairly thick, very heavy at 185g before sizing the bracelet. I could point out a half dozen other things that I shouldn’t like about it. So why can I not stop thinking about it?

I should not like these 2 watches but I absolutely love both. They're big and chunky and heavier than anything I've ever owned, yet I want to wear them all the time. The Deep Blue was actually a mistake. I thought I ordered the 40mm version but this came and I was about to return it but when I tried it on I knew it was a keeper. The Tissot I had to try on several times before I took it home. Since then I cannot remember why I was so hesitant. I cannot explain it. Sometimes the wrist wants what the wrist wants.

I'm not supposed to like this Squale. The internet and YouTube don't like it as it's too heavy, too thick, the straps suck and the box it comes in is a bit rubbish. I love it though and enjoy bucking the trend 😜

I also love that Seiko OP! 👌

I have the opposite problem: watches that I “should” like, but really haven’t fallen in love with.  I have several Hamilton Khaki Mechanicals, and Khaki Automatics that don’t get much wear.  They are nice looking, compact, well-made, accurate…but I always choose to wear something else.😢 Then all the Vostoks I bought because they seemed cool.  First-world problems I guess.

My Corum Bubble… it’s not even a marmite watch, most people hate them including non-watch people. It’s not even discreet.
