If you purchase a watch in 2022, but it doesn't arrive until 2023 which year do you count it in?

For sanity's sake i go further than that. Id count as 2022 a watch that I got on a wait list for (without paying anything), even if it arrives a year later (looking at you, Pelagos 39). That way I dont exhaust my 2023 quota.

Ownership does not require possession. I tend to view the outlay of cash and the shipment date as the trigger point.
I have two outstanding purchases. They are more like Schrödinger’s watches. They are mine but they’re not mine until I open the box and see them.
The year one paid for it.
I binged on independents in 2022.. I have deposit down for me to receive one every couple of months till mid 2024. I don't count it till it's landed.
